Excellent light.
Excellent light. It is well made of all metal and is VERY bright. The focusing works well. The bulb will last well as long as no one has ever touched it with bare hands when putting the bulb in (use a latex glove and do not touch the outside of the glove against part of your body or face of with your other hand at all) DO NOT get any oil from your skin on this bulb or it will blow very fast. Thats the way halogen bulbs work. I have read the reviews on this light and saw several people saying the bulb blew fast and also the smell the first time they turned it on. The first time you turn on a halogen light the heat from it will bake off any extra oils left over from manufacturing and also the paint will bake in for a few minutes. So take it outside and let it run for about 30 minutes the first time you turn it on. It will only do that the first time. Also you want to have some thick gloves to use while handling these lights. They get hot. There halogen. There supposed to get hot. DO NOT get it close to flammable stuff like curtains walls or furniture. I like these lights and am going to order more.

BEWARE!! PURCHASE AT OWN RISK!!
I purchased this light thinking it can't be that bad, especially for the price...Boy was I wrong!! When I turned on the light for the first time, I was nearly electrocuted as the fuse and bulb blew at the same time, nearly causing a fire! On top of that, when I returned the light I was only issued a PARTIAL REFUND!! Customer service was unable to give me a reasonable explanation, saying there are costs associated with the return that I am responsible for!! I can't for the life of me figure out how I am responsible for a faulty product that nearly burned my house down. Not only do I strongly suggest you stay away from this light, I will not be buying anything from this seller again!

ePhoto 800 Watt RED Light Focusable Video Light With Barndoor Light Head by ePhotoInc DG800
I received this item a day early (ordered on a Friday, got it on a Monday) so that is the first positive thing I have to say. I was leery about buying this for the simple fact that is was $50 and no one had reviewed it. But I have to say I am impressed! It comes with everything you see in the pictures, I point this out because some don't come with bulbs and they don't state whether or not it does.I was amazed at the construction when I pulled it out of the box as it is all metal, I was expecting some plastic. There's a metal knob on the back (not shown) that adjusts the focus, which is pretty good IMO. I am slightly worried about the spot welding on the barn doors although they seem sturdy. I base this on reviews I've read on other low cost lights w/barndoors so I am being a little paranoid. There is a lock pin for lack of a better word, where it connects to the stand that I have never seen before but thinking it will be a good feature.I've only turned it on to make sure it works so I haven't actually used it yet, but I will in the next few days and don't forsee any issues. All and all I like, am glad I bought and I will def. by another if the need ever arises.

Great light.
Light was exactly what I expected and worked as expected. I like the fact that it has a robust strain relief on the power cord which is often an area of concern with less expensive gear.I added a dimmer and it works well. I would buy more of this item..

Good, but limited use.
Doesn't have a good reach to it and the quality is reminiscent of daylight except you can't bounce it or gel it without a severe amount of drop off in intensity and it creates an over diffused quality that is not good for such a high wattage.

Real Cheap Crap!
This is true Chinese s***. It's a copyright ripoff of the Strand Century Inabeam 650 light. Everyone is ripping off American trademarks that are not protected globally. (So much for free trade, people). Cheap barndoors that don't function good, beam spread pattern is the worst I've ever seen ( 25 years TV experience), 800 watt lamp doesn't fit industry standards (needs to be a FAD 650 lamp, but those won't fit the socket). Good luck finding replacement lamps (other than cheap Chinese s*** that have low lamp hours (mine lasted one hour) and crumble apart if dropped. You will get what you paid for!

Good for what it is.
So long as you understand what this light is, and what it isn't, you should be happy with it. This unit is basically a cheap red-head light. That doesn't mean the build quality is bad--on the contrary, for what is charged, the quality is actually pretty good. But it won't stand up to the rigors of daily production. If you use this type of light even once a week, it's probably going to last less than a year.I do documentary film production, and I use these lights in situations where my CFL softboxes won't work. I don't use these lights that often (I prefer the softer light from the softboxes); but when I need them, they work. One note of caution--don't expect to hang gels on these lights--they get very hot. And invest in a pair of heat-resistant gloves to use in handling these lights. You'll want them the first time you have to break the lights down in a hurry after a shoot.
