Shortly after getting Dexter we began to notice excessive itching. It got to the point that we had to remove his collar at night if we wanted any chance for a good night's sleep. The poor little guy regularly develops little scabs in his ears from itching them so much. We have tried everything from special soaps to other dietary supplements and nothing worked. After a visit to the vet, we were instructed to give him Benadryl regularly due to allergies. Although he itched slightly less often, he was still going at it. The only real difference we noticed was that he was more lethargic, because of the pills. Luckily we began using the Pet Parents skin and coat treats, which were finally able to make a difference. Now he scratches just as much as your normal dog. His skin is no longer as irritated, his coat is softer, his ears have no scabs, and we are able to get a good night's sleep. Every night Dexter looks forward to his delicious treat and I look forward to my uninterrupted sleep.

My middle-aged female cattle dog mix suffers from chronic seasonal allergies generally around April and October. Shes previously taken steroids and more recently Apoquel as needed during the bad times (like now). I have not given her anything yet this year. I read several negative reports on these related drugs and learned how they work in the body, affecting the immune system. Apoquel worked great but is also at risk of creating other problems (cancers, skin problems etc), expensive, and still a relatively new product. I REALLY wanted something natural to help my girl that WORKED. I always give up and head to the vet for steroids/drugs when she's going out of her mind scratching and biting, ultimately causing a skin infection.I bought this product with high hopes it would help her overcome the negative allergen affects and build UP her immune system, not block or interfere with it.Like:1. Product appeared freshly packed and soft, easy enough to chew by any size or age of dog.2. It contains a higher amount of key ingredients than other similar products on the market.3. Product can be easily broken to give in small pieces for little dogs or easier consumption.Dislike:1. Both my dogs (65 lbs & 12 lbs) strongly disliked the smell and initially refused to eat them 100% which was discouraging. Granted it's packed with concentrated fish oils in a fresh edible, so it's difficult to mask the smell, that I can understand. And most dogs like stinky stuff! My dog likes cat poop for gosh sakes! (we will never understand them) I attempted to put in peanut butter, but it was so soft that it crumbled in the process, so that was challenging. Even with the peanut butter, she would not eat at first. A lot of coaxing! But I was determined. Finally, got them down. The focus was my big dog. My little dog doesn't have allergies (yet) around 2 yrs old but wanted to give to him for the health benefits.NOTE: Don't give up if your dog refuses to eat them. Be patient. Each day took some coaxing but got better every day. I would not force it and at times leave them on the floor in front of her. Minutes later I'd turn around, they were gone. Each day was less of a fight. Now a week+ in, she eats them right away. I keep them by my bed and give first thing in the morning after potty break (like a morning treat, as she is conditioned to get every morning). She eats them right up. My tiny dog however is still a little hesitant, but does eat it slowly when I break in little pieces.Results: I'm 11 days in. I am now starting to see some noticeable improvement. If your dog has severe seasonal allergies, don't give up. I am determined to get her off hurtful drugs, so don't give up too quickly if you don't see results in a few days. The body is a complicated thing! It needs time to consistently metabolize, process, and utilize these ingredients to develop a chemical change - it's not a drug. When I started these supplements, I had to continue to overlap use of some (less) Benedryl (which was useless when it gets severe) and also used a steroid pill once for some relief from scratching/biting uncontrollably. Finally now, she is scratching/biting less, though still does on occasion. Seems to get better now each day. I will occasionally give 1 dose of Benedryl (which is nothing) once in a while if needed, but compared to a week ago????? I am now really seeing a difference.I will say - I was discouraged at first after several days, not seeing much change. I stuck it out. It now seems to be helping. Here is an example photo of her paw which she chewed all her hair off recently. My goal is to get her under control before breaking the skin and developing an infection. As of today, she is sleeping peacefully next to me on the floor and only scratches or nibbles once in a while, sometimes at night. I was giving her multiple high doses of Benedryl which is useless at these peak times. Thus, making me run to the vet.Conclusion: I am a believer. This product CAN help. It would be better if the smell was more attractive to dogs, but it is what it is. It's hard to mask fish oils and other ingredients with something else. I would rather have the hardcore beneficial ingredients in there and figure out a way to feed them, than use an inferior product for the sake of taste.The end.

I was hesitant to purchase this product but I was pretty much desperate to try anything. My pup has bad bad baaaad allergies during the summer and this summer was the worst. The fur around her eyes were thin, her eyes were blood shot and very watery. She was constantly itching and was starting to get random bald spots all over her cute little body. She even started getting sores in between her little toe beans. I purchased this product 3 weeks ago and I have kept up with it every day since. I am so happy to say that my pup is nearly perfect now (I mean let’s be honest she was perfect the entire time but you know what I mean). Her eyes don’t water, they aren’t blood shot anymore and the fur has grown back. She doesn’t have any bald spots anymore and rarely ever itches. Even the god awful sores between her little toe beans are gone. I’m so glad I purchased this product and I HIGHLY recommend. But I do want to say that the changes don’t happen over night. You have to be patient. This product works!!!! I promise!!!!!

For right now I'm giving this product 3 stars. The 'chews' are crumbly which is nice if you intend to sprinkle it on your dogs food, but it is not nice if you're fighting with your dog to eat it, as it will then crumble wet fish smelling pieces all over your floor. That brings me into my next point, my dogs hate the taste of these. One of my dogs is a little picky, so that's understandable...my other dog, however, will eat literally anything without questions. Even she picked it up and spit it out about 5 times before slowly eating it with her ears back and sad puppy dog eyes looking at me as though I had told her she had to eat it or live on the streets. The first dog is the one that really needs these, so it would have been fine if my girl didn't take it - clearly I didn't force her, so for her to look so sad and beaten -- these things must really taste bad.I will update my rating after I see if these actually help or not. I have only successfully gotten my dogs to eat these one time so far so I highly doubt I will already see any changes.

I gave this to my goldendoodle who has bad environmental allergies. I have only given him one treat so far as I plan to spread out his total treats throughout the day (he gets 2 total) but it does seem like he has been itching less since the first treat. I will come back to review once we've used it for a bit longer, but so far it seems promising. Shipping was also crazy fast as well- I got it in just one day after I ordered it.Update- these don't work alone for my dog, but are a great supplement to benadryl for my dog. I give these to him before bed typically and he doesn't wake me up with his itching when I do. His skin also looks less red overall since we started using these treats.

Thought this product would help with lickingI have one days worth left. Not sure if I’d order again.No difference in licking of paws.
