This Singer Beginner’s Sewing Kit includes two fabric marking pencils, hand needles, thimble, sewing gauge, needle threader, tomato pin cushion, eleven mini spools of thread, a tape measure, fabric scissors, seam ripper, and dressmaker pins.Full disclosure: while I know how to do it, I am not a big sewer. I sew to finish off crochet projects, sew on buttons, hem clothes – I am never going to sew an outfit or make a quilt. So, for someone like me this is a perfect beginner’s sewing kit but it may not be for others who are more serious about sewing than I am. I really bought this kit for certain bits and pieces – namely the needle threader and seam ripper – and I wasn’t disappointed. Some parts are a bit flimsy – the scissors and seam ripper (they don’t make seam rippers like they used to!) and the pin cushion is on the small side – but in general this kit fits my needs which are admittedly small.If you are looking for a kit for major sewing projects, this Singer Beginner’s Sewing Kit probably isn’t for you, but if your needs are small like mine, you will love this sewing kit!

I got this because my sewing supplies and tools were in storage and I wanted to sew up some masks. I bought thread separately because, as a sewer, I knew that the thread that comes with these kids is harder to work with and might not be as sturdy as the standard thread most sewers use. The items work as they should for inexpensive items and I'm very satisfied with my purchase due to the very low price and the usability. I have not tried the thread, but the other items are fine for my use. This would be a nice inexpensive gift for someone just starting to sew but who doesn't know if they'll do it much. Just buy them some thread separately so it's easier for them to do and might want to sew more. The scissors work fine for cutting cotton. They aren't like the costly kind I normally use, but I didn't expect them to be and they worked fine.

Please be very careful opening this package. I was able to open it without using a scissor but then got cut up several times on the two staples the company placed to hold it together. Usually there aren't staples just a sealed package. I thought the package was cutting me so continued on removing the items.The items are good. The threads are very small, the 100 pins are worthless and way too tiny. But I bought it for the gauge, the seam ripper, the tape measure and sewing needles which I had priced separately and would have cost me more than this did. So I'll discard the pins and use the rest. I already have it put to good use!Just beware of the packaging, please!

I've actually bought this kit for a few friends that need to get started sewing -- it has everything a beginner needs to start out. If you've never sewn before a few of the tools will look strange, but once you start learning, each and every one will come in handy.I also like the selection of threads, which come in a variety of useful colors. The thread quality is higher than in other kits I've purchased, though it is still an inexpensive thread. But at least this thread doesn't snap mid-sewing.Great kit for a beginner, or to stuff a new sewing basket. Would buy again, and likely will!

I bought this as a gift to go with a few other items I was gifting a tween girl that has just discovered sewing. It has all of the essentials. I wasn't impressed with the presentation, so I did open up the package and placed all of the items in a nice, sturdy, magnetic gift box (purchased from Michaels) with some material and two simple sew-easy patterns. She LOVED it! I figured it was enough to get her started and as she develops her skills she can upgrade supplies as necessary.

This is okay. I purchased a similar set a few years ago, from another brand (I can't remember which), & I was expecting this to be of similar quality. It's pretty cheap. I was really just looking to replace a couple items, so I wasn't really looking to utilize each piece. But it's still a little disappointing when you get something essentially useless. The scissors are very cheap, you can literally get a much better pair for $1 at Walmart. One of the items I purchased this for was the seam ripper, as mine has disappeared, & it's worthless. It's not sharp & doesn't cut through thread well, if at all. The hem ruler is great, the measuring tape is great, can't complain about the thimble, but if you're buying it for any of the other items, I'd consider passing on this set. I can't speak to the pencils, I haven't used them yet, they may be just fine. The pink tomato pin cushion is okay, but it's pretty small, smaller than a typical one.

My nephew, the last baby in his generation, is going off to college this fall to major in science and technology. We are all so proud of him, but he was having a hard time coming up with all of the items on his supply list and I wanted to help him out, so I purchased this 130 Piece Beginner’s Sewing Kit from seller, Singer. This sewing kit contains everything my nephew might need to make repairs to his clothing in his dorm room. It comes with a pin cushion, tape measure, needle threader, marking pencils, sewing gauge, seam ripper, thimble, 8-inch bent trimmer scissors (which were also on the list so yay!), polyester thread in many different colors, sewing needles and straight pins. All of these items fit in a reusable storage box that measures 8 inches by 7 inches by 1 inch. It’s a nice size and if my nephew needs to replace a button or sew up a seam he has everything he needs to repair his clothing and get back to his studies. I’m super-excited to give this to my nephew and I know that he will use this kit often. I hope this review helps to better inform your purchasing decision. Thanks for reading.

I bought this kit as I can no longer raid my mums sewing box! It comes with all the bits and bobs you need to start sewing as a beginner or make minor repairs. Only downside is there is nothing to keep all the bits together once you have opened the package.
