"Love Trusts, Doesn't Judge"
Maslar has written a winner on the topic of love; I read Chapter 9 three times. A clear definition of love as a biochemical process, one of personal growth, was presented at the beginning and then used as the anchor throughout the book. She pulls you smoothly along by posing questions, questions that I had begun to form in my mind as I read and wanted answered. All I had to do was continue reading! Carefully worded subtitles focus and simplify the content. Research findings, case studies and personal accounts are used to build and clarify why men chase, why women choose. Maslar's book is a delight because her gentle humor comes at the most unexpected times and makes reading and rereading a joy. And by the end of the book, I did understand how love works, "When you look for the best in your partner, you both win."

I wish someone gave me this book 30 years ago
This book is a must read for any young woman, actually any age woman. Ms Maslar explains the science behind our chemical attraction from the start all the way to our later years when we are together in a long lasting relationship. In the book Ms Maslar provides studies with empirical data on what is going on biologically, both physically and emotionally, in a woman and a man's body. This evidence for me personally confirmed much I already knew intuitively but either through societal pressures or my own need to rebel against religious/familial rules, chose not to follow. I also leaned quite a bit about myself and where my own insecurities or biology was taking me down a path of dis-empowerment. I wish someone had given me this book when I was in my early 20s. Nonetheless I've been given it now and it will undoubtedly make my relationships (and life) a whole heck of a lot better.

Good book, Misleading Title.
Give me a break! The content of the book is good. But the title is somewhat misleading. Because it would make a layperson (one who is not familiar with evolutionary psychology and biology) think that only men play the active role, and women play a rather passive role. But in actuality, women "want" to be chased, and men "want" to be choosed. Hence, they (at least, a considerable amount of the women, if not all) put their effort in being "chase-able". Ever noticed in parties, how women get dismayed when they see someone wearing the same dress they are wearing (If it ever happened!). You know it damn well that there's a competition, and they are not just "passively" engaged, who just have to do as little as "choosing". Ultimately what it all boils down to, is, that both men and women want to be "choosed" (read, Not rejected) by the ones thought to have one-upmanship in the "Social Darwinism" game .That is, of course, as per psychological conditioning one has*. If that doesn't happen, one feels alienated from existence, and from that arises loneliness, which is not at all a pleasant feeling.*Yes my friend, once the game of biological survival is mastered. We have to play the game of psychological survival. It appears, that we human beings just can't do without playing one game or the other, Haha!
