I know CELOX is meant for more much serious wounds than this, but my family and I have found another use for which we are grateful.My elderly mother is on blood thinners, and bleeds profusely if she gets cut or scratched. We have had to take her to Urgent Care or the Emergency Room more than once because her nasty cat (that's another story) has reached up and scratched the back of her hand, causing it to bleed. My mom's in her late 80s, so the skin on her hands seems paper thin.One of these times, when my brother called to tell me he was trying to bandage over another such scratch, and might have to take our mom to the ER if it didn't stop bleeding, I remembered the CELOX in my 1st aid kit. Even though it seemed like potential overkill, we both thought it would be worth a try. Definitely better than going to the ER on a work night and probably waiting hours to be seen. So we gave the CELOX a shot on her hand, and it worked like a charm!In addition, we found that the remaining CELOX was still good several weeks later, after being closed carefully back up. I don't know if you want to bank on it still being good for a major wound. But for the cat-scratches, it still worked fine several weeks later, when my mom once again got scratched on the back of her hand.Overkill? Yes. Worth saving a trip to the ER? You bet!

Haven't used this stuff yet, thank God, but my daughter's in nursing school and they have practiced with it - it's a miracle working powder. She recommended this larger package because if the wound doesn't stop bleeding at first, you have enough with this larger pack to apply an initial dose, let that "gel" so to speak, then apply a second round to make it that much more effective. I hope we never need this stuff, but after listening to her ER horror stories, I'm glad we now have this in the first aid kit!

This stuff is great! I keep a pkg in all my families go bags and the car. I never had to use a full 35g pouch (and hopefully never will) but on slices/cuts/punctures it works fast and stops the blood. Use with a tourniquet and its like turning off the faucet.

Must have for shooting bad, car, enduro motorcycle or survival first aid kit

Not for your IFAK that you carry on your person, but more for the team kit. The packaging is somewhat on the large size, little bigger than the old army smart books. Celox works though, and it's best to have now a days

Got this for my emergency medical kit. Hopefully I will never have to use it. Arrived quickly and exactly as described. Will probably order a few more.
