Perfect
Exactly what I wanted at a reasonable price.

I threw my MONEY out the window.
This device only worked consistently mostly with USB2 ports. But when I needed it most with a Dell laptop has only USB3 ports, this Visiontek mSATA kept cycling through ejecting and reconnecting every couple minutes. DO NOT BUY is my recommendation. If this turns out working for you; then you are a lucky one.

Looks good but keep ejecting
I originally bought an msata enclosure off ebay - it worked fine but looked a little unprofessional. I bought this one purely for the looks - but in use it keeps being ejected corrupting files I'm using at the time. I'm using a Samsung 840 1Tb on a late 2013 MBPr 13". Same drive in a different (cheaper) enclosure works flawlessly.

Great idea, but it won't work on all computers
Great idea, but it won't work on all computers. On my dell laptop it keeps disconnecting, and I think it's because of the power consumption of (enclosure+SSD) is too high. On the docking station, and on my thinkpad(s), it is working great... Really like when I reach 160MB/second of transfer rate...

Purchased due to great design. Poor performance and terrible after sales service. Now in the bin.
After two months using a Samsung SSD in this enclosure, the device kept ejecting. Tried multiple cables and isolated it to be the connector on the enclosure. Emailed the company VisionTek about a replacement, unfortunately they do not ship to my country. Funny how they sell to my country with no problems but can't provide their advertised 3 year warranty or after sales service to the same country. Will not buy any VisionTek products again after this experience.

enclosure gets so hot you can't touch it...
I purchased one of these and it arrived today. I put my Crucial M500 480GB mSATA drive in it and after 5 minutes of copying files from the drive to my laptop it reached 82 CELSIUS. It was so hot I had to pick it up with a towel after I canceled the file transfer and unplugged it. I hope this isn't its expected operation but I feel that 82 CELSIUS is absurdly hot. this little enclosure gets hotter than the GeForce GTX 970m in my laptop... and thats a massive GPU!

A great case to build an external drive from a spare mSATA internal drive. Really sturdy and well made. The tiny screws are a bit fiddly, and the cable is stiff and difficult to work with some times, but a great product.

Very well built and stylish. No real instructions but very self explanitory. I added a crucial m550 256gb msata ssd with windows 8.1 to go installed so I can boot camp my MacBook Pro off this beauty without taking up space on my main 500gb internal ssd. Very fast and works like a charm. Best external case out there.

The unit itself worked fine, but the cable that came with it was defective. Had a lot of trouble until I used one of my own.

A bit more expensive than cheaper versions out there. But it has a more recent ASM 1153E chipset and is worked well with my new Samsung 840 EVO 1TB SSD which is a TLC SSD (cheaper enclosures don't work with this). It is nicely designed and robustly built. My only slight complaint is that it got really really hot when I was cloning my old SSD in my laptop to the new one. Probably it was because I was copying 128GB of data. But maybe a design which included a few air vents rather than a completely sealed enclosure keeping the heat inside would have been better. I have now put my old Sandisk U100 128GB SSD and it works fine too.
