This is a great shallow water filter. It’s whisper quiet (the pump itself anyhow), allows for use of various types of filter media and even includes a few bio balls. That alone makes it a step above many other filters on the market just by simply allowing you to use the filter media of your choice. Of course you could use the filter pack that’s also included if you wish. Even though the instructions say it can operate in water that’s only an inch deep, I’d advise you to have no less than 2 inches of water to help keep the pump cooled properly. I’m planning on using a few of these to filter water in som aquatic plant starter trays since it keeps the water oxygenated and can allow for filtering the water so a few small fish can be included to provide waste as food for the plants. Great little product and I’m sure to be buying several more.

This filter for the price has actually become one of my favorites over an expensive name brand most people use. It runs great. The pump attached to the bottom, pumps a high rate of water which is excellent for tanks with turtles and so forth. It is actally very quite. If it wasn't for the waterfall sound itself I wouldnt know it was running. The water flow is so smooth the African Side Neck turtle in the tank loves swimming under it. The pump is removable from the filter so you can clean the impelle if need be. This is a big plus with because sometimes debris can get into the pump around the impeller and cause it to lock up then burn out. The only flaw that I truly found with this was the hanging clip isn't strong enough and snaps off. However there are 2 large suction cups that hold up the filter with no problems. I just prefer the clip as a backup in case the suction cups let go. Pros: Quite, Powerful, easy to clean and maintain Cons: Haging clip is not functional for the weight of filter once water starts pumping through it. I would recommend this pump for a turtle tank if you don't want to buy a 60.00 or more name brand one.

We bought this filter almost exactly 4 months ago for a turtle tank. I have regularly cleaned the tank and changed/cleaned the internal filters, maintained appropriate water levels per the manufacturer instructions, etc. The entire product worked great - until it stopped working. At almost exactly 4 months the entire product just shut off all together and will not suction at all anymore. I have taken it all apart and cleaned it extra well just in case - to no avail. When plugged in, it barely hums and then does absolutely nothing. It looks like the seller has a 90 day replacement policy, and of course, we are just outside that window. I’m super disappointed - will not purchase again.

At first, this filter was lovely -- I connected it to a light switch, so that I could turn it on/off for 2-4 hours a day, as mentioned in the directions. I bought filter replacements. However, within a week, it stopped flowing. I unplugged the filter, disconnected the bottom part (which I think has the motor and the intake valve), shoved everything back together until it clicked, then used the suction cups to put the filter back on the wall of the aquarium. The suction cups were definitely losing their suction. The filter stopped working today, and no amount of disassembly has made it start up. When I turned it on, I couldn't feel any vibrations from the motor starting to run. It's very sad -- my kids loved seeing the waterfall turn on, and it was fairly pleasant / low noise. But my tank never seemed to get fully un-cloudy, and now I'm stuck with several filter replacements for a filter that doesn't work.

I got this to replace another filter that was failing after a year's use. I thought it was reasonable to expect this one to last a year. WRONG. I put it in 2 1/2 months ago & already we're having ongoing problems with the motor seizing up. It has to be disassembled to free it up. Too much trouble. I'm going to replace it with a different style of filter entirely.

This filter works great in my turtle tank. My only issue is I have probably 30 gallons of water in the 50 gallon tank and it does not seem to pull enough suction to filter the opposite side of its location. I will be buying second filter for the other side of the tank shortly but this filter is extremely quiet and pulls a lot of suction. Replacement filter cartridges are inexpensive which is also a good reason to have this filter.

The noise quality was quiet which I loved. The size not so bulky. The problem with this, is the poor quality clip that hold the filter to the the aquarium. It is terribly made. It is not strong enough to hold the weight of the filter. My turtle would just tap it and the filter tank would fall into the aquarium and the clip on the ground. The cover also does not securely latch to the top which it should. It barely fits well enough to stay on. After a week, we gave up on this product, after needing to constantly fish it out 5+ times a day. I should’ve returned it.

It works. Easy to install. Cost Effective. THIS IS NOT QUIET. DO NOT GET THIS IF YOU WANT A QUIET FILTER. It sounds like running water. Always. No way to make it quieter (obviously) -- get this if you want a filter. Don't get this if you want a quiet one.

Pues lo malo es que si no limpias la pecera después de alimentar, se va tapando, yo lo uso con tortuga, pero es el mejor de los que he comprado y pues ahí va ...

Las instrucciones no son claras y no pudimos instalarlo bien. No sabemos si el producto llegó dañado o está mal diseñado porque no podemos colocar bien la esponja que ayudará a limpiar y filtrar todo. Tampoco se queda fija la tapa.
