Starrett Depth Micrometer Replacement Rod, 5-6" Range

This was a replacement for the 0-1" that had been bent in my Starrett depth micrometer. It came in in good condition. A little adjustment and it works perfectly.

Was dead on out of the box with no calibration and a perfect replacement for a bent 1-2" rod for my Starrett 440 depth mic.

Even though this rod is sold as a replacement for my old Starrett NO. 440 depth mic. the adjustment nut is larger than the one I have which results in the thimble cap not screwing down all the way. It does work, but it is not held down buy as many threads as the original rods allow. I believe Starrett no longer manufactures this No. 440 type. Minus one star for the misleading ad. But, it is still an excellent product just not for my case.

I bought a used Starrett Depth Micrometer and it was missing one the 1-2" rod which is probably the one used the most. I called Starrett and they said the part was on a 5 week backorder. I found it on Amazon and got it in a little over a week. Now my set is complete.

Was listed as for the 440 series, had to modify to fit my 440-A Depth Mics. Rod was a little long and the nut diameter was too big. Shortened rod and filed down Dia of nut and it now works fine

It let my Mic pass... So I'm happy. good $ Came it fast.

Item description is not completely accurate as this rod does not fit Starrett 440A. Giving low score only because the item description is misleading. The rod itself is excellent quality just does not fit my 440A. :(
