Great for maintaining my very small and lightweight but pricey battery in my Porsche. It is a lot more than a trickle charger. It cycles and conditions the battery. A must have for vehicles that sit or that have lots of electronics running in the background even when powered down.

Charger do not extend battery life as advertised
Bought one unit handy to use when necessary for regular battery maintenance. Charger was bought brand new. When car could not start, set up the unit to charge battery to 13.9 to 14.1Volt for 96 hours; un-plug charger and let battery rest overnight with no load. Reconnect battery terminals, crank starter but it could not start engine, start recharge cycle 2nd time for another 72 hours and it still could not start the engine. Checked battery voltage, it indicated 11.6Volt. Followed all written instructions closely but it could not save battery. Similarly tried charging other SLA battery many times, it did not work either. Batteries were 34 to 50 month. This Granite Digital (GRT999) Save A Battery Charger worked normally - confirmed with digital multimeter. All unserviceable batteries were maintained & charged regularly using this unit but it doesn't really help extend battery useable life. It seems to be just a sales gimmick. Can someone provide pointers ?

and all have been pleased, even at a little additional cost over the ...
I have a maintainer onboard all of my rigs including lawn mowers, ATVs and golf cartsI maintain about 25 batteries. Putting maintainers on all rigs that aren't driven daily has cut my battery purchases from 10 to 12 batteries a year to around 2 or 3. which means that they pay for themselves every year.. I must admit that i started out with compeditors units and still have some of them installed, but am slowly switching over to Granite.. I also sell them to customers in my shop, and all have been pleased, even at a little additional cost over the others. Most trickle chargers ruin your battery.. this is not a trickle charger. Do not use a trickle charger to maintain a battery!I have completely revived 2 red top Optima batteries. Doesn' t always work and has they don't reach 100% again but generally work just fine. You do have to leave it on for a few months though.
