Accessories D'Addario Hygrometer Humidity And Temperature Sensor

This works great if you have a guitar or any other wood instrument that needs to be kept at a constant relative humidity (RH)%). This allows me to open my guitar case and at a glance see if the RH is conducive with keeping my guitar in good shape and to avoid possible issues down the road in regards to cracks and glued joints coming undone. It also allows you to check the history to see if during travel it may have been stored in less than ideal conditions. A relatively inexpensive tool that can save you hundred if not thousands of dollars down the line.

Does it's job, nothing more, nothing less. I keep it in the guitar case to measure humidity, highly important for all-wood acoustic guitars, especially in the winter with household heat drying out the air.

I agree with the earlier review of djmic. There is a design flaw in the case/battery cover. The battery cover operates as the on/off switch. In order to turn the hygrometer on one lines up the two indicator "bumps". This brings a notch in the cover inline with the contact in the main part of the unit, unfortunately the On position is also the open position, when one turns the unit on, the battery cover is loose and the spring pushes the cover off and the battery out of the unit. It just does not work. I have no comment on accuracy. I have diligently tried to make it work including taping the battery cover in place; it's just not going to work, at all. I would NOT recommend this item to anyone. I would not purchase this item again.

I hang my ukuleles on the wall and I was concerned that I was allowing them to be damaged by being in an environment that is too dry. I keep this Hygrometer by the ukuleles and know that they are safe in my home environment without keeping them in cases with individual humidifiers. If my humidity dips, I will see it. Now I know that my little musical investments are safe.

I purchased this "made in China" hygrometer for use with the same company's "Humidipak" guitar humidification system. Unfortunately, the one I received didn't show the correct temperature (it was 10 degrees off), and one of the buttons used to adjust settings on it didn't work, so I had to return it, and decided to try another brand/item instead. This is an attractive little gizmo, but when you think about it, if a hygrometer like this is going to be spending most of its life sitting inside a guitar case, why get one that tells you the time and date? I'm thinking the only "extras" that'd be useful in such a device would be, e.g., a memory function that shows "minimum" and "maximum" variances in relative humidity, and ability to clear the memory and start over each time you open the case to check the min/max readings. I'm assuming I just got one of the occasional lemons ... it happens ... no diss on D'Addario.

If you’re gonna buy an e pensive guitar, you Must watch temp and humidity. This can literally save you from severe damage and therby hundreds of dollars of repair work, to your guitar, mandolin etc

The monitor looks great and the functionality is there, but the accuracy is so low that all that functionality is so low. My house is pretty well regulated and I have some other monitors that keep better track. The reading for the memory function is always "low" or about 90% which makes keeping track of the humidity over time impossible. (I reset it every day) It works fine for quick updates, but there's better options out there.

Good device, small and accurate. Ideal for monitoring humidity in an instrument case. The battery it came with did not last long and I ended up buying more from amazon basics that last longer. Very reliable hygrometer - just do yourself a favor and buy a few CR2032 batteries with it to save yourself frustration down the line.

Lo que he notado es que tiene que estar cerca del humidificador para que marque la humedad de la guitarra, el plástico es frágil, ya se me cayó 1 vez, de muy poca distancia y dejo de funcionar, le tuve que quitar y poner la pila 3 veces y revivió. Deberían de hacerlo más resistente.

Chi possiede strumenti come chitarre sa quanto l'umidità dell'ambiente abbia impatto sulla risonanza e sullo 'stretching' che il legno dei nostri stumenti subisce nel tempo. Spesso bisogna ricalibrare il Truss Rod proprio a causa di repentine variazioni di questi parametri ambientali.. Ho trovato questo strumento molto utile per tenere sotto controllo l'umidità. La durata della batteria a mio avviso è sufficiente (dura parecchi mesi) ed il prezzo irrisorio al quale ho avuto la fortuna di pagarlo me lo fa consigliare.

After receiving the D'Addario hygrometer I decided to check it's accuracy using the salt test (you may Google it to understand more). The idea is to put you hygrometer in the close environment (for example zip bag) along with a wet salt and leave it for 6 to 8 hours. Then you hygrometer reading should be 75% of relative humidity. As you can see on attached photos the D'Addario hygrometer shown 100% accuracy. I was very happy about it. Now I can store my newly bought guitar in the right conditions. Also this hygrometer has a temperature sensor, clock and calendar. It has got a memory function and can show when the maximum and minimum relative humidity has occurred. Great functionality and very easy to use. Highly recommended.

The small footprint of the PW-HHTS allows you to easily transport and place the unit almost everywhere. Readings are displayed with clarity. If used every day, the battery should last for about 4 years! One of my best buys in a while!

I bought this as I own 3 solid wood high end acoustic guitars. I have never given a thought about humidity ( or the lack of) and the way it can damage or change the way your instrument plays. After much reading of reviews I decided on the planet waves hygrometer/ temp sensor. Glad I did! With the cold temperatures recently I discovered the heating in the house was lowering the humidity to about 35%. Apparently acoustic solid wood instruments are at their best in the 45 to 50% range. I have now bought the planet waves humidifiers too. I used to leave my guitars on the stand in the room. Not any more. I have done several non scientific tests with the sensor. If I put damp clothes on the radiators I can see the humidity creep up on the screen, tried it in the case, outside the case and with the gas fire on and off. All producing differing results as you would expect. Another good feature is the memory button. It records lowest/highest temperatures and humidity. Worth every penny!
