Worm Penthouse!
Purchased these to create the "lids" for the worm towers in our garden and couldn't be happier.

Great for a repair
Worked very well. I had a main drain in my home that had a leaking fitting. The fitting was in the center of the house with no way to move the pipe on both sides of the fitting to use a regular coupling. I cut out the bad fitting and about a foot or so of pipe. Once the new fitting was in and the slip coupling was on the pipe, I VERY quickly put glue on both sides of the pipe seam and slid the coupling into place. Worked perfect. No leaks and no problems using the fitting. Dont use the cleaner or you will never get the coupling to slide into place.

Obsolete technology: Don't even bother with these. Get the 4-band shielded couplings instead.
Voice of experience: It's simply impossible to make a reliable connection with 4" PVC slip couplings. There's not enough glue left in the gap after sliding this 4" down a PVC pipe, leaving the starting portion of the pipe dry and a connection that will eventually leak or fail mechanically. If it leaks, tree roots will eventually find their way in and break up the pipe and/or fitting, if it fails mechanically (due to shifting soil), even if there are no trees nearby, it will collect debris leading to a backed up drain. Having tried these, the 2-band shielded couplings, and the 4-band shielded couplings my considered opinion is that *only* the 4-band clamps, which are a full 3" wide, are sufficiently reliable for underground use. Otherwise you're just going to have to dig up and replace the failed couplings. It may be 5 years, or 20, but is it worth the risk when the 4-band-shielded couplings cost about the same as these PVC slip couplings?Worse, as it turns out, 4" PVC pipe sizing isn't consistent and these couplings wouldn't even slide over the stuff we had put in the ground just 10 years earlier. These couplings are have a small ridge exactly in the middle that needed to be sanded down before they'd slide over the old pipe (and even after that, of course, the joint was weak, as stated above, so I had to rip the whole thing out and start over).
