Cheap small drink guide… but…
Nothing wrong with this book, and actually it’s pretty cool. Fun art. The typo with missing “Chief Lapu Lapu” has been fixed, at least in mine. BUT: this seems a little overpriced for what you get. It’s a very small, flimsy, 92 page black and white booklet. See photos for scale. The Remixed book by same author is way more substantial with colorful art. Still better for your buck is Smuggler’s Cove, which is less than 3x the cost, but is more than 3x as long, with bigger pages, color, and so on. If you want a cheap tiki drink “pocket book,” you won’t be disappointed with this. If it gets splashed, no biggie. If you’re only able to get one tiki book… I may lean toward Smuggler’s Cove. Though be aware, it’s almost a coffee-table sized book, which could be a positive or negative depending on what you’re looking for.

Not the Spiral Bound
I wish this was a spiral, but all they had was this paperback edition in place of. The spiral binding would allow the book to be laid flat and open to any recipes. Bought this as a gift for a friend of mine who loves the hot tub and cocktail combination.

Excellent
I recommend this for anyone who enjoys tiki drinks. Why go out when you can make one at home for less than a dollar?

Errors in Printing
One drink is missing its title, "Chief Lapu Lapu", and every time there should have been a 'fi' there's a '○'. For example, instead of "shake with a shaker filled with ice", it reads "shake with a shaker ○lled with ice". It's kind of annoying.

Ditto to what others have said about the cool content; it's a fun book with cool recipes and neat back-stories to the drinks. The problem with this book is how it was printed. There's essentially no inner margin, so you've got to peel the book open just to read it. Also, on several places the text is just missing - like a tiki graphic got too close and trimmed off the ends of every word in a paragraph. In at least one instance the content is completely missing. I was reading a sentence at the bottom of one page and where it should have continued over to the top of the next it was nowhere to be found; a new topic started. If little things like that don't bother you then it's a great book. I don't think any of the actual recipes are cutoff; just the introduction and cool historical section at the front.I ordered this book along with the companion book, Grog Log, and in my opinion they should just blend the two together in a spiral-bound edition. I take it this book was once available in a spiral bound. If I could do it over I'd look for that binding. This one feels very cheap.Maybe one last gripe and then I'll be done: for all the effort the author(s) put in finding the original ingredients, I have to take issue with the Singapore Sling. He mentions the Raffles Hotel, where it was supposedly born, but it seems to be missing some key ingredients that other books include, like pineapple and Cointreau. It's probably still good, but my research tells me they got it wrong. I mean, if we're going to the ends of the earth to get exotic ingredients then I'd at least like to know that I'm going to replicate the original...

Good Info - Flawed Product
This book has very good information in it about the Tiki cocktails I wanted to know how to make. Lots of recipes as well as some nice guides to making your own ingredients. The pages are in the "perfect bound" paperback format and have been so carelessly laid out, that some of the text is covered by the graphic elements on some pages. It looks like a 4th grader's homework assignment. You will be able to figure out, in most cases, what was supposed to be there, but it is a very sloppy job. I can't understand why these issues haven't been addressed, since this newer edition was released in 2013 when the book was first published with the spine glued, "perfect binding". The margins are so tight that it is hard to read the text near the spine. Someone effed-up using the layout software, somehow every time "FL" and "FI" are used together in a word it's replaced by a bullet point. At one point, there are several lines of text that are just missing - PLUS there's even one page where the Name of the drink (Lapu Lapu) has been replaced by a smaller version of the same clipart image located later on the page. All in all very amateurish & sloppy work. It is worth having for the information, but it is annoying to read - very disappointing.

Fun book, shame about the formatting mistakes
I had heard of this book while listening to a podcast, and while the explanations on the sourcing of the recipes, the history of the tiki bars of the time, and the recipes are great, the book has a lot of formatting errors that take away from the experience. Letter combos replaced by a circle symbol, images overlapping text, obscuring it, and a couple of sentences dropped after a comma without being finished throw the reader off. It's unfortunate that this can't go through a review and reprint, because it needs it.

Great tiki book for the collection.
Great tiki book. Simple format, lots of recipes. Give it a go. This is not Smuggler's Cove, but they sure quote it alot.

La storia del Tiki
Bellissimo!
