Replacment filter
I had to order this filter due to my truck not having any down time. I see its been redesigned from the rubber base to a plastic base. K and N told me that it was redesigned due to a flaw in the rubber compound. Would have been nice of them to inform me. Shipper was very speedy and excellent.

Extremely well made!
great filter! This filter is massive and the best made filter ive ever used. Has a stud for mounting to a bracket for custom applications as well. Has a nice delrin machined hard base that is extra sturdy.

looks right, but
Nice filter DOES NOT replace the original that is in my intake kit ... but it is listed as replacement..I had to get a coupling sleeve in odd size and clamps...

This replaces the RC-5102, K & N knew that ...
This replaces the RC-5102, K & N knew that the 5102 was defective, it rubbed at the bottom and the sides of the airbox. Also if you have the Cold Air system for early 6.0 the RC-5178 does not work! It had a hard plastic flange that will not mate with the intake tube. I was on the phone with K & N for awhile explaining this, they are sending me a boot and clamps etc. to install it.

Filter has changed
To install this on my F250 6.0 it requires a new rubber boot because the materials have changed between the original filters and this replacement. K&N should include the new boot with this filter rather than make us hunt down the correct part.
