I have never been much of a hat fan mainly because I have an unusually big head. You wouldn’t know it looking at me, but back in my baseball coaching days I had a hell of a hard time finding a team hat that didn’t fit so tight as to give me headaches. I usually had to settle for a 7 3/4 as that was usually the biggest available which was still tight. One year we got an oddball 8 in which was perfect. I live on a lake and spend a lot of time on it or on my tractor and have used a number of less than satisfactory head garments trying to keep the sun at bay. I was on the lake a couple of years ago and found an almost intact straw hat floating nearby and to my astonishment it fit me just about perfect. I’ve been using it since for all my field work and it’s wide brim really did the job shading my face, but after a couple of years it was starting to show it’s age, so I thought I go on amazon a look for a couple of similar hats that came big. Out of the many there were only a couple that looked like they might work. Before ordering these a thought came to me to take a closer look at the hat I’ve been using for manufacturer marking or names. It had a reddish tag on the front and a headband tag inside that said “quicksilver” L/XL. A quick search on amazon revealed they carried just such a hat with a picture that looked nearly the same to what I had and at a bargain price much less then what I had sitting in my cart. $22. I quickly ordered one thinking it was probably a longshot that it’d fit like the old one since it had been a few years since i found my old one, so I was prepared to return it. My mail lady came with a big box two days later telling me she thought they forgot to put whatever I ordered in the box as it felt empty. Straw hats don’t weigh much of course. What came out of that box was my old hat reincarnated, and most importantly of all, it fit perfectly. So good in fact I ordered two more and would have ordered even more except the amazon app limited me to just two more for some reason. I’ve since ordered another plus two more having a silver outside hat label instead of red. All clones of the others for $22 each although during my ordering escapades the price occasionally listed at almost $30. Amazon’s pricing algorithm does that sometimes, but the price is currently back to the original $22. I’d buy it at $30 if I didn’t already have an ample supply. So if you’re like me and have an unusually large head (I wish that translated to large brain!) this is the hat for you.

This hat worked perfect to keep the sun out of my face while mowing the lawn. My hat came delivered by usps which I was worried about due to them not caring about packages from my experience. Sure enough it was left under my mailbox at the side of the road and not on my porch as Amazon does for deliveries. It was delivered in a pouch and not a box which added to my worries. After opening it and inspecting the hat it was In great shape. Not like I’ve saw in some other reviews. It does seem somewhat flimsy. Although I only plan to use it while mowing my lawn so I’m sure it will hold up for some time. The hat comes with a band where your head goes to ensure a snug fit and also a draw string to keep it on your head. Also it was only $15. Seemed like a win to me and still does. My review is featuring my lawn mower, named the Pro-grassinator. 🚜

Like others mine was shipped in a box that didn't allow for the very fragile straw that maybe is way to brittle, room to lay flat, so a bent brim is a broken brim in this case. When they put the hat in the amazon box it broke the brim along every edge where it was bent to fit in a box 2 inches too small. The hat looks exactly like the pictures so I was extremely disappointed when I took it out of the box, it's way too brittle just putting it on you can feel the breaking, especially in the brim. Great potential poor execution.

Hat looks great and provides good sun protection, but you do get what you pay for. This hat is cheap at $20 and may last two summers. If the hat gets wet, it’ll start falling apart very quickly!

This hat is great for the beach and priced very fair. It's not going to last through a lifetime of abuse, but it serves its purpose well and looks nice at the same time. It's also performed well as a grass mowing hat to protect my skin from the summer sun. For around $20 you can't really beat this hat for its intended purpose. Not junk at all but also not so expensive you'll stress over it getting blown away by the wind or forgotten in the hotel when you check out.

The Quiksilver Men's Pierside Lifeguard Beach Sun Straw Hat was purchased during July of 2021 for the price of $20.00 for a gift to a friend who spends a lot of time outdoors for his work. As of 11-18-24, the price has increased to $22.00. This hat was purchased for protection from the sun for a person who is required to be outdoors for long periods of time during sunny summer days. Although it was very effective in providing cover from the sun, it didn't last the summer. I guess for the price point one could expect that it wouldn't last; but it disintegrated rather quickly. I wouldn't purchase a straw hat of this kind again. It seems as though straw does not hold up over the long term. If I'd been thinking clearly, I would have opted for a hat made of palm. I purchased a similarly styled hat made of palm 19 years ago for little more than the price I paid for this hat and it hasn't lost one weave stitch. It requires a good wiping every once in a while; but it is as sturdy and well made as anyone could desire. Unless one wants to make this purchase repeatedly, I would not make this purchase....and I will not make this purchase again! He did, however, deeply appreciate the gesture.

El costo elevado (lo envían desde EEUU), pero vale la pena. Ha llegado muy bien embalado y protegido y el sombrero es de 10. Hay que tener cuidado con él porque es delicado, pero si estáis buscando un sombrero como este, lo recomiendo!

Ein echt cooler Hut, welcher sogar auf meinen unmenschlich großen Schädel passt... Aber wenn sich ein Freund wie ein Esel einfach draufsetzt, wird den Hut leider ziemlich schnell die Struktur genommen. 10 von 10 für den Hut....

El sobrero muy bonito buen material solo que los que empacan no tienen cuidado lo ponen en caja muy chica y llega maltratado casi se rompió de una ala es por la forma de empaque deben de cambiar me lo dejé por lo bien echo y gusto se tuvo que enderezar mojado

Ho dovuto ordinare due volte perché il primo era arrivato devastato, rimborso Amazon immediato come sempre. Il secondo invece era perfettamente riposto in una scatola di grandi dimensioni e adatta al tipo di articolo. È più bello di quanto pensassi, utile per chi vuole proteggere viso e spalle dal sole.
