Zojirushi #CD-K03EJU Inner Container Cleaner for Electric Pots, 4 Packets,White

I use this to clean my 3L Zojirushi electric water boiling pot. Since I boil tap water in my pot, over time the interior of the pot becomes stained with minerals such as limescale and iron that precipitate from the water.Zojirushi recommends this product to clean the pot. It's easy to use - use 1 packet, dissolve in water and fill the pot as directed, set the cleaning cycle, and voila, the pot is clean.I have never had a strange taste or smell after cleaning, but note that I typically dump the first batch of water I use after I clean the pot, and use it as usual after that.The cleaner is food grade citric acid. You can buy citric acid in bulk, and at a price that is much lower than this product.Amazon does carry bulk citric acid labeled "food grade", but since citric acid is also widely used in industrial applications, I didn't want to take any chances, so opted for this product, but next time may opt for a cheaper option.Some reviews mention using vinegar to clean out the pot. My pot's product manual specifically mentions not to use vinegar. Both vinegar and citric acid are mild acids, and I wonder why the manufacturer seems to be so anti-vinegar?The only reason I can come up with is that vinegar may react with the lining of the water container or with the inner lining of the transparent plastic water level indicator (and thus make it hazy instead of transparent)?Most Zojirushi water pots have a small thimble-like filter that may fall off when you dump out the water (mine did), so you may want to make sure it stay where it is supposed to when you empty your pot.

I hadn't cleaned my zojirushi water heater once in the time I'd had it (several years), but there was beginning to be some buildup at the bottom and it was causing my tea to have odd hard water particles in it. I tried vinegar which did basically nothing and came across these in my search.WOW, it works well. Years of lime buildup gone in one use. I don't have particularly hard water where I live (and I use filtered water in my zojirushi anyways since the tea tastes better), but if you have harder water and haven't done this in years you may want to do several rounds of this to get back to a clean slate.The instructions were in English and very easy to follow. Basically just dissolve the powder in some warm water then dump it in and fill it up and boil. It's so easy!I'll be keeping these around as a staple from here on so I can run a cycle with this whenever I start getting buildup again. Highly recommend!

Great cleaner for Zojirushi hot water kettle (dispenser? Not sure what to call it). I live in Los Angeles, which has pretty hard water. Bought this after finding out my partner was not using filtered water on refilling it and saw a ton of scale buildup on the inside and bottom, to the point where some of it was flaking off.Watch the instructions online! It's not a simple dump it and go. You have to dissolve it in a cup of warm water, then add the water to the dispenser and set it to clean. It will clean for roughly one hour, at which point you need to dump the water and refill it. Let it get to boiling (~10 minutes) and then pump out a cup of water to rinse it out, then dump and replace the water.I also am not sure if this can be accomplished by using a cheaper citric acid but, given the cost of the dispenser, I opted to pay the Zojirushi price. Seems expensive for what it is, but it works and works extremely well.

To be honest, I was a bit scared to use this product because I saw some reviews that said there was a lot of foam and that some of the foam even came out of the boiler's lid. I was worried about that because I didn't want it to get damaged. I was also a bit worried that the product might not get rid of the slight mineral build-up (a bit of hard brown/reddish looking stain) that was on the bottom of the boiler. Certainly, my boiler did not look like some of what the other reviewers have since the water in my city is quite soft.I followed the instructions carefully such as making sure to use a warm cup of water and mix the citrus acid powder together. I poured the mixture into the boiler and filled it up with water. I made sure to use the "cleaning" option (you can do that by holding down the reboil button for a few seconds). You should see two lights blinking and the tiny display screen should show two lines going around in a square. Pretty much this should take almost two hours to complete. I just poured the water out once the lights stopped blinking (I think you can let it soak if you want) and refilled the boiler with fresh water. After the it's done boiling, you just need to dispense a cup of two of water from the appliance and throw out the water again. Then you fill up the boiler one last time, boil it, and you're done!I hope it works for you! This is a solid product that will keep my water clean and I am extremely satisfied.:)

It Works!I had to re:do it twice as my kettle was a little bad..but the second go it took it all off, including a burnarea. A tip, do not put too much water about 3 inches as you do not wish to dilute the powder too much.

Best and quickest way to clean your Zojirushi water boiler! Been using it for years. Just need to dump two full boiled water loads to make sure any taste or smell for the cleaner is gone. Good luck!
