Victron Energy Inverter VE.Direct Control Panel

This remote is probably designed for an older product line, so the wiring is not particularly intuitive on the newer inverters with different designations on the remote connector. It works great once you figure it out. The remote has "H" and "L" connections on the back, while the inverter has "+" "ch" and "on". When you connect "+" to "on," the inverter switches on. Connecting "+" to "ch" puts it into charger only mode. On the Multiplus, the remote will not function until you enable the remote with the dip switches and leave the main inverter switch in the on position. Once you do that, you can control it from the remote switch. Connect "+" on the inverter to "L" on the switch. Connect the inverter "on" line to "H" on the remote. I further upgraded mine with a 3-way switch to allow access to inverter mode and charger-only mode.

Efficient and well made. Designed to integrate into a system which goes online and communicates world wide freely. Easy setup and reliable. Puts out the power it’s rated for efficiently. Filled the bill and is very configurable. Setup is simple with Bluetooth dongle to phone direct or as I have networked with VE Direct line to a Cebro GX hub linked to battery shunt and solar MPPT from Victron. Love the setup.

Edit: and number 3. I believe that none of these specific switches either work or were meant to work with the victron Phoenix. Third one doesnt work. Tested polarity of wires before use, didnt work. So maybe I thought manufacturer screwed up on + high and - low polarity so I reversed them, still doesnt work. Who designed these? So now I still have a hole in my custom wood drawer front that fits this switch exactly with no working switches. And was told a replacement was coming and that I didnt have to send the return in but i did get charged for it. So 50 bucks and no working switch. Edit. Recieved a second one to replace the fried unit and guess what, it never came on. Retested my victron inverter, it works, tested the remote function, it works. Victron seems to be a good company, however the packaging looked like products were either returns or took a beating in the mail. Ordered from inverters r us both times. Called customer service and no answer. I'll be sure to mention them on a youtube video so I can put the word out as we travel and film. Ordered this in October and it's been left in the box since then, I just installed it today, it flashed and my victron Phoenix inverter came on for a second then turned off. I reattached the switch and remote, nothing happened. I put the loop back on the remote connector to make sure my inverter didnt blow up, it did not thankfully. But the switch still didnt work. Has a sticker on it that says tested ok. Lmao apparently ok is not good because this thing fried immediately. I've been in the advanced electronics field for over 20 years as well, this should be a simple install and a trouble free switch.

The switch is nice looking, easy to install, and works. This cannot be used with older victron inverters that are non-ve.direct. If you connect it with an older inverter it will blow out quickly and can melt down.

This does what it needs to do--turn a Victron inverter on and off, but it's not perfect. It does, however, look good in a final install. My two complaints are as follows. First, the instructions are minimal, and don't clearly specify what I suspected, that only a small gauge wire is required. Second, the wire needs to be installed with the proper polarity for the LED to function, and while this device has clearly marked inserts, that wasn't the case for the Victron inverter I was connecting to (nor did its manual help). Having a 50/50 chance of I managed to get it right on the first try. Third, in my application the backside is exposed in a storage compartment, but there's nothing to protect it from contact. I'll need to install a small box over the back for protection. None of these are deal killers, just minor annoyances, and as I mentioned the final install looks great.
