if the battery is dead, will it still work plugged into 12 volt system?

Yep, the direct line to the LEDs pretty much bypasses the battery with any excess sent to the battery. Works fine with a dead battery, I've tried it.

Would this be a good choice to see an address at night from my car while delivering pizza in bad neighborhoods to unappreciative customers?

I bought this spotlight for exactly this purpose when I was a pizza delivery driver. It works great for finding addresses and it is waterproof in case it is raining. I just left it in my car and would stick it out the window and shine it on homes to see addresses. It really helped. As I recall you can't use it when it is on the charger, however. But I would only turn mine on when I needed to see an address, so it would last a whole shift until closing then I would charge it when I got home overnight. It never died on me. Very bright and focused light. However, I would never be a pizza delivery guy again. How does the old saying go, "Never bring a flash light to a gun fight" hehe. I don't know a pizza guy who hasn't been robbed. I was robbed at gun point, and needless to say it wasn't fun. Your life isn't worth the job. But the flashlight is great! I still use it when walking the dog at night. I'm getting one for my dad who owns a boat and goes out on the river at night. It really is good for the money and I've had mine a few years and it still works great. But if you are going to use it to deliver pizza, get a gun and a carry permit as well! Learn to use your gun. And please be aware of your surroundings! Or better yet just drive for Amazon.

What is ment by "up to 2200 lumens"?

the specs from stanley PRODUCT SPECS Product Specs Battery Type Lithium Ion Bulb Type LED Lumens 750 Lumens Waterproof false yet in description at top it says Reaches up to 920 Lumens and here it says 2200 lumens . I can tell you it isnt 2200 lumens at 10 watt

What is the beam distance?

Not sure about the distance but it is light up the dark good. I live in a wooded area far for the city lights it gets good and dark here! and lights up as far as I can see clearly and it has two settings high and low low works good to. I have a old Qbeam Max Millon ll 2,000,000 candlepower and it is a lot heaver and don't get half the distance that the Stanley go.I buy it again. Hope this help you!
