Amazing!! Just brilliant!!
I bought this based off what I saw online, and it was one of the best decisions ever. It is legit metal, and it does have a low melting point, but if you buy it, you'll have to put it in a bowl of warm water for about 20-40 seconds. Still a really fun thing to play with, and has a weird feel to it. Also leaves behind a gray residue on hands, which comes off with soap and warm water with ease.

Science is fun!
If you are looking for an easy and cool science project check out Gallium. This shipped quicker than expected. My son is 11, and he has read a lot on the product, and done some Gallium Experiments research. He says that this is one of the funnest science experiments he has done in a very long time. Mom says GALLIUM STAINS! Skin, freshly painted bathroom walls, light switches, clothes, and I'm sure other things I have not seen LOL! Moral of the story is wear disposable gloves! I bought a pack and they worked fine. No more staining. (Mr. Clean eraser took care of the bathroom walls and light switches if you are wondering!)

Possibly the most fun element ever.
Gallium is an interesting metal because it melts at body temperature, looking a lot like mercury when it's a liquid, but safe to touch. This comes in a small plastic vial with an attached cap. If it's cold enough, the gallium inside will be solid, making it virtually impossible to remove. Just run hot water over the vial and it will melt and you can then just pour it out. Take care though, because this can separate into tiny drops that can easily get away, and, being a metal, it won't exactly soak into a paper towel or sponge. I found the easiest way to return it to the vial is to scoop it up with a piece of paper or plastic sheet. If it's on a smooth surface, you can use ice to harden it and make it easier to pick up.Warning. This is a soft metal, and will melt easily, and as such,it will readily mark surfaces if it rubbed across. If you're handling it with your hands, your hands will get dirty. It's best to keep it over a protective surface like a plastic sheet to prevent this from marking up a table to counter-top. And whatever you do, avoid dropping it on cloth or on a carpet! It will be practically impossible to get it out. This stuff works great in ice cube molds.

Gallium is safer than thermometer Mercury recommended that you read information ahead of time
My bride was telling me about how she used to work with Gallium in school in science class so I had to see for myself what was so "neat" about this product.... It's pretty awesome to play around with but you must read up on the material information before handling or "playing" with Gallium.... I learned the hard way and for the amount of Gallium purchased it was sort of like a waste.... I wish I would have realized the size amount as I was totally shocked when I opened the package.... It's awesome to experiment with kids and safer to handle unlike the old days when we used to break open thermometers to play with the Mercury.... We had no idea how dangerous it was but Gallium is the perfect product that gives you the same experience as you would have with Mercury and safer.... I'm disappointed in the price and amount size and my failure to read up on it ahead of time.... Will definitely buy again but next time I will make sure I check the amount size and shop around for the best pricing.... Overall I'm happy with the product but shipping was a little slower than I had anticipated..... Thumbs up overall

So freaking cool. I loved learning about this and feeling the heaviness of the liquid-metal. Teaching my friends, boss and daughter about this was great, too. I speak for everyone when I say we all loved and STILL love from time to time. (I got this item like 4-6 months ago or so) and my daughter and I will still grab it off the bookshelf every now and again and play with it. IT DOES leave TONS of black chalky thick ash-like residue but we keep baby-wipes or make-up wipes by us when we play with this and it comes off of hands and mostly all surfaces with zero issues.

So cool!
Once you get it to melt, it's so much fun. It's so much more dense than water, so feeling the weight of this liquid fall into your hand is just a really cool experience. Like some other reviews mentioned, it does stain your hands black. And it takes FOREVER (an hour) to get it to melt. But it's just so cool, I think anyone trying to get their kids interested in science should buy this.

Fun stuff to play with.
When I was a kid, I purchased mercury at the local pharmacy and found it quite fascinating. Try to put your finger on mercury and it moves somewhere else, I assume this is where the word mercurial comes from. Gallium is very similar to mercury, but totally safe. It's cool to melt it in your hand and roll it around. I haven't tried molding anything because I didn't buy that much. However, I am thinking it would be fun to try out so I may order a bit more about 50 grams (2 ounces) should work. Note that I tried ordering a kilogram of Gallium a few years ago from a dealer in China, but the Chinese export control prevented it leaving the country. Finally, a reasonably priced product and no troubles with the export guys.

Melts in your hand.
This will NOT come in a cube and it will NOT look like it does in the picture. This will come in a silver blob that has formed to fit the bottom of the pill bottle they send it in. (At least that is how mine came). What is cool about this is that it is a metal with a low melting point. You can hold it in your hand and it will melt.We are going to use it to conduct an experiment or two and generally play with it as homeschooling science geeks do.Please read the warnings from others about this product. It can leave gray smudges on hands and things. This is not for little kids.So far the kids haven't had an opportunity to mess with it much as I'm waiting for the point in our curriculum that it will fit in. But my husband and I have had fun with it.Very cool.Enjoy.
