Maui Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook

One of the best Hawaii tour books. I have read older versions and granted I don’t feel the newer versions have that much new information. I did notice for the crater snorkeling tours however they did have the current tour groups noted and had good suggestions for which one was best or most popular or had the best new boats with water slides etc, so this part was updated I noticed and was helpful. Also the maps included with the book I feel are helpful and better to a lot of maps I’ve seen sold . Maui revealed is easy to read and comes in a plastic cover which is water and sand resistant so it can take some wear and tear on a nice Hawaii vacation. Enjoy your vacation in paradise!

Recently took the whole family to Maui and found this book to be invaluable. It pointed us in the right direction to so many fun activities. The author was clear, honest and had great insight. All of the phone numbers were up to date and the prices were pretty close (COVID has increased some prices but that's to be expected). The explanations of the places and activities were well researched and honest. We coupled this book with the Shaka Guide (download onto your phone) for an audio tour of Haleakala and The Road to Hana.

These guide books by Andrew Doughty are by far the best for all the islands. They research every bit of each of the islands and give you tips that prove to be very helpful. The other great thing is that they revise them each year or two so that updates are accurate. I have one for each of the islands and buy them for friends whenever I know that they are visiting.

I’ve bought the REVEALED books for all the Hawaiian islands and they have been invaluable for our multiple trips. The Kindle versions are easy to access, the reviews are straightforward and accurate, and the tips about “hidden gems” are especially good. Well worth buying and be sure to get latest editions. Even if you bought one a few years ago invest in the revised version

I literally chose this guide because of the amazing reviews I read and I cannot believe that it was still way better than people said!!I traveled to Africa 3 times, almost to every country in Europe, several states in US so I know a thing or two about traveling, but this was hands down the best guide I have ever read.First of all everything suggested (or not) in the book comes from direct experience from the writer. No sponsors, no rumors. He (and his team) would visit/try at the very least two times everything they talk about in the book to give REAL opinions.I loved the writing style, super easy to read and to understand.You get straight forward suggestions in the same way a good friend would refer a place they loved or advise you to stay away from terrible places.If you have Prime I would suggest to get the free preview on Kindle to read the first pages and get a feel of the writing. It’s seriously that nice.On top of the straight forward critiques they also give you tips on how to get to your destination. Miles count, visual references of things you would see before making an hidden turn and things like that.Every single restaurant marked with the ONO rating was in fact amazing!I personally would suggest all of you to get a nice strawberry Pie at Leodas Kitchen and Pie.I was a little bit unlucky cause the new edition had a delivery date after my trip, so I had to go with this edition (2019). I was concerned about recent changes but it was still accurate despite COVID restrictions. I’m pretty sure the newer one might have more details in regards to that if it’s something you want to know more in details about.

This book was my bible for my honeymoon to Maui. The restaurant section alone is worth it. They're reviews are honest and unbiased in my opinion. Just reviewing the 'Adventure' section gave my husband and I great ideas of what to do. To really see Maui and all the book has to offer you should probably rent a car.I will say that the book is so in depth that sometimes it seemed we were invading the island's privacy (or something like that). The Road to Hana chapter is amazing and really helps you navigate the famous road by yourself, but a lot of destinations in there seemed private, like we were trespassing. Be mindful of places like this on the Road to Hana as well as the rest of Maui.We did, however, find really great beaches that weren't crowded because of this book. We ate at fantastic places because of this book. We also understood the "island life and time" aspect...because of this book. If you're going to be spending some time in Maui BUY THIS BOOK!

The down to earth real advice is awesome. The author gives it to you straight and I'm glad I read the story about riding down the mountain on a bike. That avoided an injury, I'm sure. The road to Hana info was great as well. Buy this book if you are heading to Maui! Well worth the money.

Great book we bought it for our daughters for our trip to Maui, they loved going through the book and making a list of places and things to see and do. It gives you get insight into hidden places.

We visited/camped in Maui twice before I purchased this! Our third trip was planned for this past May, but COVID had other plans!I am a huge map lover and we're always looking for "off the beaten path" adventure! This guide is amazing ❤️ I wish I'd had it the first two times we went. Written by an educated, fun loving group of Hawaiians this book has it all! Detailed adventures, things to miss if time is of the essence, humor, HISTORY and detailed, descriptive maps that you can not do without! An absolute MUST have for anyone venturing to Maui! Love Love Love this book!

My whole very large family just travelled to Maui for a family wedding. We all realized that we had bought different guide books for our research. However, during the trip, everyone gravitated to mine, Maui Revealed. It provided details of hikes, geographical feature, and tourist attractions that could only be made available by someone who had explored them many times. It became a point of pride to find the little details contained in the descriptions (e.g., "the questionable ladder, attached to a questionable rope, attached to a questionable rock" on the way to the Nakalele Blowhole). The sign of an effective guide book is one that is dogeared, underlined, waterlogged, and generally battered through its use. Mine checks all those boxes.

This book has it all to enlighten and guide you to make your vacation in Maui complete. I love that they update it almost yearly so it's current! There is something for everyone.

This guide book is full of useful and interesting info. The mile-by-mile play-by-play of things to see and do is better than any other guide book.

Used it for our 2 week stay in Maui and even though we had been a few times before, we discovered new adventures and tons of handy tips to make our vacation the best it could have been!
