This is an extremely helpful book. I read every page learning all that I could on how to make better cupcakes. She is amazing in her information and the style of her writing kept me interested. My business is now creating the best cupcakes ever. Thanks, Lily

This is the best cake book I have ever used
This book is brilliant. Not only are the recipes very easy to follow, but they are a success time after time. I have never failed with a Lily Vanilli recipe. The book has a good variety of cakes, biscuits etc to make, each of them are fun and often with a twist on the traditional. Very pleased - have bought it as a present for friends and family many times.

No fast food here...
There are lots of interesting recipes here, with flavour combinations that are unusual and work really well. However there are no fast recipes here; you have to be prepared to give plenty of time to produce the dishes as there are often recipes within the recipe, i.e recipe for pastry on page blah, recipe for custard filling on page blah etc that need to be carried out as part of the instruction. However if you want to make something really special that looks as good as it tastes you'll find it well worth the effort.

Delicious recipes, divine pictures, great instructions
This book is not for those new to baking - but having said that the instructions are really clear and specific. As an experienced home baker, who has dozens of books on the subject, this one has gone to the top of my list - everything I have made from it has been absolutely delicious - honestly the best choc chip cookies I have EVER made! All the baking favourites, meringues, sponge cakes and brownies, are here but the recipes all have a fresh take on them which really works (and this is from someone who bakes the same old Delia cakes and brownies again and again because everyone loves them and is usually reluctant to try new things)... If in doubt buy it!!

Great recipes easy to follow
Absolutely beautiful set of recipes, easy to cook and explained with a bit of a back story from the baker. The only problem I find with this book is that when you want to bake a particular cake, you have to refer to different pages as a recipe wll stat "see page 90 for buttercream recipe" etc. It's fine when baking but when trying to make a shoppng list it gets annoyng. You soon get used to it I guess.

This is a fantastic book. Lily's baking has a unique style, which I love. Her recipes are high quality, well written, and the results are full of flavour. They are modern and creative (there's nothing twee or boring in here), but easy to follow and reliable. The book also includes a lot of information about how different baking methods work, and tips to ensure that everything turns out well. As someone with a science background, I really appreciate this kind of information, but you definitely don't need a science background to appreciate it, as it's written in a very accessible way. Another plus is that the food styling and photography are lovely, which contributes to making it a very enjoyable read (it's a terrible let down of a good recipe book when the photography is poor). I use this book all the time, and would wholeheartedly recommend it.
