The best can opener I have ever had. I am 64 years old also. I have tried all kinds of can openers from handheld to electric. My grandchildren, when they come over would tear up my handheld ones usually every time they use them. This one has stood up the times of them using it has never broken. In fact, my daughter said hers was broken the other day so I sent mine over for her to use for them. I ordered me a new one. This one has lasted me over a year with no problems. I love how they can has no sharp edges. The price is worth every penny. It is a beautiful can opener and looks nice with all your appliances. It doesn’t take up hardly any space. It’s also very easy to use. Like I said my grandchildren love using it. They are all ages. The magnet on it is very good, it holds the cans very well. My new one works just as good as the old one. I know I looked at the reviews and saw were some people had problems with theirs. They must have just received a bad one for some reason. I would definitely say this is one of the best ones out there for the money. You could buy a high dollar can opener that would do the same job this one does. So don’t pay more pay less. Buy this one I love mine.

As a senior citizen, don't want much, just a good can opener that doesn't hurt my joints when using. I FOUND it! I had previously bought one of those new styles that is shaped like a bullet, that sits on top of the can, you push button and it goes around slicing the side of the can under the rim, not on top. It worked great for about 5 uses, then it pooped out. This electric (bonus) can opener uses same cutting technique, but is made much better and glides around the can very smoothly! That's all I wanted, so happy with this purchase 😊

Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch Electric Automatic Can Opener with Easy Push Down Lever - Purchased several months ago. I needed to replace my old clumsy electric Hamilton Beach can opener. I read the very positive Consumer Reports review and then the "One Star" Amazon reviews. I decided not to purchase this can opener based on the "One Star" Amazon reviews. My husband convinced me that due to the new engineering process Hamilton Beach used in opening cans that this item was probably worth a try. So, I purchased it. It's the best electric can opener I have ever used. It opens regular cans and pop top cans and leaves no sharp edges on the can or the removed tops. It's so simple to use too. Just one effortless push of the handle is all it takes. You can even see very tiny grooves in the top rim of the cans as the can rotates during the opening process. You can actually see where the starting and ending of the process is while it's opening your can. I'm not sure why some reviews had trouble finding the beginning and ending points in the can opening process. It's a great effortless can opener - I love it!

Love almost everything about this can opener. The look is sleek and blends in with my stainless steel appliances. I love that there are no more sharp edges. the noise level is par on point with all other can openers so no deal breaker there. no need for the magnetic piece above (which is what broke off our last can opener ...it had cheap plastic.) My only con is that I cannot press down and walk away... but holding a can for less than 20 seconds also isn't a deal breaker... it's just me being lazy and or trying to rush while making things. I will say that you do need to pair this with a can strainer for things like tuna, beans, olives, etc. but those are nice to have even with an old fashion can opener.

Love this opener. Cuts so the lid removes easily with no sharp edges. It does not have a magnet that takes the lid off.

Different from my previous can opener’s in that it cuts the under side of the can and leaves a lid without a sharp edge. At first I did not think that it had cut through the metal but on further inspection realized that the cut was so fine I did not see it. I had to pull on the lid to separate it. Make sure the cutting wheel is over the ridge of the top of the can.

This can opener is a STAR!!!!With arthritic hands, opening cans became a chore I dreaded. I decided to order this can opener, not expecting much, but what a surprise, I absolutely love it!!! It opens leaving a smooth can with no sharp edges. It will also open the bottom, if necessary. What a lifesaver!!! Try it, you will love it too!!!!

This can opener works like a charm. My old can opener really got on my nerves. It was kind of old. The cans would fall off while it was opening. It would work when it wanted to. I love the way my New can opener works. The way it cuts open the can is wonderful. No cuts from the can, and simple to operate. Just Love itLove the way it Opens
