I have about 20 black rubber tub ponds. A few were infected with string algae so I packed disposable white tea bags with the pellets and waited. They cleared up within a few weeks and the white fiber tea bags are holding up keeping all pellets in one place. Will replace as needed.

It says to Break at Opening, but couldn't find any opening. The provided diagram is of no help. The plastic is too hard to cut through. Had to throw the product away.

These barley pellets are nicely uniform and dense. Much cheaper per pound than the small so-called bales sold in many stores. One cveat: The nylon bag and tie string is too small to hold the whole bucket's worth as the pellets expand somewhat when submerged. Two thirds is a safe amount. If the pellets are not contained some will likely migrate migrate to the skimmer and literally gum up the works.

Was really hoping for a natural solution to a green algae bloom in the water. Has been in the pond, right in front of the skimmer intake to get maximum water movement, for over a month. Hasn't done anything at all to correct the algae bloom.

I was pretty skeptical that this would clean up our 100 gallon pond that was covered in green string algae. Put a handful of the straw pellets in the supplied bag plus a couple of rocks to weigh it down and dropped it in. Next day there was a noticeable reduction in the algae and within a week it had almost completely disappeared. Assuming it stays that way for four or five weeks as claimed I should have enough to last several years. You do need to remove the dead material to avoid it accumulating - best done with a toilet brush.

This is the worst designed pail I have encountered. It took 2 male friends and myself (who are experienced at opening difficult pails} more than 15 minutes and then we gave up. The instructions on the lid are poor. We all have opened many pails but never as idiotic as this one. Last year when I ordered this product I had to break the lid. We have opened many easy-open pails. The product last year was good but we have not got the pail open yet, so, due to the pail I cannot give it 5 star. I tried phoning the company number on the pail but got an answering machine, so I hung up and will smash the lid open. I will not order again due to the frustration of the lid opening.

This product clears my pond and our fish live happily ever after
