So these indeed are tough to find...glad to find them here
So I don't know why 4x4 fence post brackets require a 3/8" bolt, but nobody sells the j-bolts in that size so you can put them in the concrete pad you are pouring for that bracket. I guess they expect everyone to just drill and use an expansion bolt. But why? This is exactly what the j-bolt anchors (or as my Dad calls them, L-bolts--LOL) are for, so you can avoid all that drilling work.So lo and behold, these babies are available on Amazon. Is it twice what I need? Yep. Is it still less expensive than driving around to more hardware stores, only to be disappointed that they don't carry anything that small? Yep. Are they every bit as good as at the big box stores? Yep. Did they come with washers and nuts? Yep. Were a few threads clogged by sloppy galvanization? Only one. Did this solve my problem? Certainly. They deserve five stars because they were what I needed and arrived when I needed them. Didn't need to run out and get anything else.

Good in pier holding 4 x 6 oak beams
A few days after the pour I was able to bend a little to get truly vertical to bolt down 4 x 6 oak beams I sawed for a freestanding deck (kids don’t do this yourself!)

"Hard to Find"
I liked the fact that these were available, no one had them locally (within 100 miles radius!)"We can order those, it'll be about 3 weeks"!AMAZON had them!Good quality, come with nuts and washers, packaged well.

Nothing Fancy, Just Good Value
The product is as expected. Just was a good price over the box stores’ selection.

Real garbage
I could get nuts to start on only 6 out of 10 and the nuts wouldn't travel very far before getting bound up because of very poor galvanizing. The 4 that I could not get the nuts started, 2 had no thread pitch at all (just rings of galvanized steel), one had 2 starts (double the nut pitch), and 1 actually had a reverse pitch (left hand thread). I have no idea how they could even make such junk.I used the 6 that worked because I thought I could clean up the galvanizing with a file (kind of defeats the purpose of buying galvanized in the first place) and get them to work, but no way that can happen.

J Bolts
Good product for bolting down sill plates. Missing three washers... But I received an extra nut! Great price on a hard to find item.

Rugged
These were used a Simpson bracket for a 4x6 post, and worked quite well. The nuts and washers were included.

It's a good fastener, but Home Depot was cheaper
If you're buying off Amazon for convenience, then get it. If you want a similar product, but cheaper, head to a big box store.
