Soft sound, in tune. You need to use both hands to adjust the cup, but it works well.

I am very happy that I purchased this mute. Not only is this mute lightweight and therefore does little to change the balance of the horn, the intonation is really accurate.Earlier I purchased the Mutec MHT 110 Straight Mute and was so impressed with the intonation and the sound that I thought the cup mute version would be similar, but with the broader sound of the cup mute. I guessed correctly.My desire was to obtain a slightly warmer tone, but still retain the unique buzz of each type of mute. So far so good.I have several different makers mutes, a few of which cost more than a C-note (pun intended). This mute fills in a sound that I want and have a need for.After custom fitting the mute and adding a slight lubrication to the threads I am ready to go.

I have three trumpets. This “trumpet” mute would not fit into any of them! I returned it and advised Amazon that its descriptions are not true or accurate.

OK mute. The screw type works OK but a little stiff. I used a little silicone to make it work easier. For the money a very good product. Not as good when using it as a straight mute......just doesn't sound the same. Great for quiet priacticing.

So the mute works as advertised. Has an 'adjust ability' issue. Here's what I experienced, and may be of some help to others with this. Out of the box, the cup was fully extended out away from the bell when mounted. When I tried to spin the cup back towards the bell on the cornet I play, would not budge. I pulled the fiber cushion and checked to see if maybe the cup was cross threaded - was not. I finally was able to move the cup by holding just the open edge on it with my thumb and forefinger - was very tight. I put to silicone grease on the threads and now I can, still with some effort, spin the cup on the main body attached to the cornet. So, if you buy one of these, just keep this in mind if you find yours has this issue.

Very happy with this mute! It's adjustable as it claims and I can get a number of different effects by changing the damping and distance from the bell. Really happy with the price also!!

Like the easy adjustment for different size bells, sound on the bright side. Don't like the muffled/dead sound withe the felt ring installed, I usually remove it

Excellent fast delivery. This is a good mute, maintains intonation, and by removing the felt damper from the cup a different tone is achieved.
