Schleich Toys are Worth the Price...It's By Far the Best T-Rex that I have purchased!
I was on the market for a realistic looking T-Rex for my daughter's 3rd birthday. I wanted something I could use for a cake topper and then as a toy afterwards. While she is only two she is more into the realistic Jurassic dinosaurs then the cutesie ones. I've purchased several different brands and sizes of T-Rexes for my daughter and it is by far the best one that I've purchased. I highly reccomend Schleich. I definitely plan on purchasing more!Pros:Incredibly detailed, thus more realistic than most other T-Rexes that I've purchased.Great size, much larger than most T-Rexes that I've purchased and it is sturdy while not being too heavy for little hands.Built well but there are still no jagged edges that may hurt your little ones .Worked incredibly well for a cake topper for my daughte'rs 3rd Birthday I used a small 6 inch two tier cake so that the dinosaur was highlighted. It was actually so big that by the end of the party it had nose dived into the cake! The jaw is mobile. You can open and close it which is fun.Realistic enough for a kiddos or an adult who loves or collects dinosaurs.Cons:There aren't really any cons. The only thing that is somewhat of a con is the price of $22 is much higher than other T-Rex toys but I'm a believer in, you get what you pay for. You won't be dissapointed with this dinosaur. I actually saw that the price dropped and I just purchased another one to have on standby. If you're a dinosaur lover...even if you aren't a kid I think this is a fantastic T-Rex. I can't wait to purchase more of Schleich's other dinosaurs.

Fantastic Detail and (Despite Inaccuracies) Sculpt.
First impressions: It's larger (taller?) than it looks. Skull is placed at an absurd angle and in such a way that the neck looks too long. Very skinny looking as well, without too much shrink-wrapping. Huge feet, with absurdly skinny ankles. Overall, looks pretty good, more accurate than its predecessors. This rendition of Tyrannosaurus rex is Schleich's third modern sculpt after the first two that had skull designs heavily based upon the Jurassic Park franchise Rex. This figure has so many good points which are also pretty leveled out with its bad points. The good points: insane levels of detail. The scaling of the sculpt work really shines on this model, it seems almost crocodilian in nature with its scale accents all over its body. Especially along the back and ridges of the skull as pictured. The skull itself looks pretty decent, with amazing levels of detail that is itself much higher than the detail on the body. There are ear holes on either side of the skull as well! And it's a larger figure than I previously thought, it towers over the Papo Running Tyrannosaurus. I placed comparison photos with the Safari LTD. Feathered Tyrannosaurus. It's even taller than the Safari Rex.The negatives include a rather uninspired color scheme, although I can't complain, because they do blend rather nicely. The dark spots on the head enhance the contrast, but overemphasize the skull holes. Another issue is the anatomical inaccuracies. The arms and neck are WAY too long compared to what is currently supported by research. It is also quite a skinny figure, as previously mentioned, much skinnier than other figures and almost believably imaciated. Much too skinny ankles for the size of the feet, though this may be for stability. Mine came in with uneven feet, but the skinny ankles actually helped me bend them stable without any heat aid.Overall good stuff from Schleich, making their new line with a bang. Plenty of figures to avoid, this one not being one of them. Look out for their juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex, which looks much more accurate compared to this model, and may be the most accurate model from the Schleich Rexes ever produced.

Bigger than I expected given the size of the other dino species
Pros: WOW this dino stands on two feet, is big (approximately 11 long x 5 tall x 3 wide), and more impressive than I thought it would be. Great coloring and VERY engaging - you actually feel like it could come alive and bite you! Also has a touch of cuteness to it in a birdlike way. Ended up being my son's favorite dino because he loved the persoanlity.Cons: In order for the model to stand on only two feet, I think they shortened its tail from its real length. Also it has a movable jaw to chomp everything - which sounds nice until you realize such things can break. I would be gentle on the jaw to ensure it lasts. The biggest issue for me, was that its size is significantly greater than the other dinos by this same maker that I already owned. I really think the company needs to work on accurate sizing between dino species. As a side issue, most of the sauropods related to the T-Rex have been revealed in the fossil record to have feathers - it seems pretty likely that the T-Rex did as well and I want to see models with feathers ;-)Comparative Size: Below is the link to the stegosaurus I bought = in reality the stegosarus and T-Rex were nearly the same height through the T-Rex was about a third longer and much bulkier. But in the toy form, the T-Rex is 2 inches taller which is way too tall and not accurate enough for me. I know that the stegosaurus and T-Rex did not actually co-exist (coming from completely different times in Earth's history), but I really want my son to see the correct size difference in these models because its not like we cannot see dinos at the zoo.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073RJRZM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00
