I was right to assume this "aluminum level" was too good to be true. The aluminum is only sheet metal which is screwed at the bottom around the the magnet areas which deforms the aluminum which makes it impossible to be accurate as the sheet aluminum can't sit perfectly flat. The screws themselves don't protrude, but they pull the aluminum cover material out of shape.I rely on these to be "dead nuts" accurate for my trade. If you only need a rough lvl, this'll do, but if you need something with reliable accuracy - which is what a lvl is for, really (otherwise just eyeball it) - leave this thing alone. Bite the bullet and get a Klein or if you REALLY wanna get OCD, get a Greenlee.
