I have wanted to try a metal detector for years, and I finally decided to get one a couple of months ago. I chose this one because it seemed like a good intermediate one to start out with and would be easy to learn with. I have had a blast getting out with this thing and finding all kinds of stuff. While I haven't found anything worth a fortune yet, I have found a lot of interesting things including old bottles/jars with metal lids, about .30 cents worth of change, a silver spoon, an old toy motorcycle, and my brother's favorite childhood toy car that he lost when he was young. I was happy to be able to return that to him, even if it wasn't in great shape after being in the ground for 25+ years. This thing works great, and I highly reccommend it to anyone who wants to learn metal detecting. It is easy to setup and use, and it is very lightweight. It also comes with a handy little folding shovel and a bag to keep it in when packed up. Buy it! You won't regret it!

We've had this metal detector for less than 10 days, but so far it fills my expectations. I purchased this item specifically to look for a few hand tool, I think I lost in the woods behind my home and as a bonus to find the boundary markers on our property line. So far, I've found only about 2-3 lbs. of buried rusted junk, but I'm hopeful my tools, which should just be under some fallen leaves will show up! I like that the detector is so lightweight and only uses one 9V battery, which seems to last pretty well with moderate use, so far. Hopefully, it will prove to be durable as well as fairly accurate for a detector in this price range. Learning curve has been very easy for this senior citizen as well.

At the end of the day, you can spend anywhere between $100 to $1500 on a metal detector. Those high-end models would be worth it if I were doing this as a serious hobby. For me, I just bought it for two purposes. I needed to find a property marker stake buried under asphalt. And I wanted to make sure there were no nails left in the yard after working on my fence. It accomplished both with no issues. In fact, it found some old metal junk that I suspect has been buried in yard for decades. This is part of the problem though. An expensive machine would give you much greater details about what kind of metal you are looking at and more precisely where it is. This is really quite simpler. It will just tell you that there is metal down there somewhere. It is slightly adjustable in that area and I suspect with some practice, I could get better at learning what it is telling me. That said, I bought it for limited use and it met my needs. If you are looking to start a new hobby, this will either make you want to pick up metal detecting and get a better one, or it will convince you you don't really want to and at least you didn't spend much. For those of us just needing one for household usage, it works perfect.

My 11 year old son was hesitant at best to use his new metal detector. We watched a few YouTube videos to get familiar with the easy functions. PRO Tip, turn "Disc" knob all the way to the right for silver, all the way to the left for gold and any other metals. Our first outing, I planted a coin without him knowing, Once he found it he was stoked and excited to keep going. He found several more coins, keys and old nails on his own. I definitely recommend having a pin pointer as well as this makes the hunt much easier. Great starter metal detector. Very pleased!

It is easy to use ! I wish it folded down more into a smaller bag . Rings a lot when noting is there making it confusing to know if you where on something or not . Recommend doing research and watching videos on different types of metal detectors and then making a educated purchase .

I am a senior (over 65) female and this metal detector was a cinch for me to put together and use. It is very lightweight and comfortable as it cushions around my arm. I let 2 grandchildren (ages 7 and 5) use it today and they had no problem carrying it and using it properly. We made a million dollars worth of memories today for less than $60 (my cost of this metal detector). The kids will never forget the fun they had with us going metal detecting today. Would buy this product again in a skinny minute. Thank you Ricomax for a great product.

On Christmas day, my daughter called to tell me that my 10 year old grandson was already outside metal detecting (even though it’s winter in Maine). She said he was in heaven, and especially loved the foldable pickaxe that came with his detector. He told his mom that it was by far his favorite gift this year. Three weeks later he’s still loving it. I own a 200 yr. old farmhouse, and I am really looking forward to spring so we can try it out here, and see what treasures he can find!

Works okay for things close to the surface. Nice for beginners or kids.
