Malt Extract Agar (MEA) 56 grams

I bought this product as an intro to pouring my own agar plates, before attempting to mix my own. I was pleased with it. Very easy to use, makes 1L of agar solution. Not exceedingly cloudy, pretty clear for MEA. Mycelium growing out great on it! No issues with contamination beyond what would be considered normal. Instructions are easy to follow. Follow them to the tee and if you don't work in a laboratory with an autoclave, just replace the autoclave step with pressure cooker/canner 30 min at 15psi.

Followed the instructions and it came out perfect. It has turned out to be extremely helpful for my experiments! I was going to make my own MEA plates for the first time and I quickly realized that this is the most affordable path if you don't want literal pounds of ingredients. If you are a beginner, or maybe you just don't need a thousand plates, then this is a great way to go!

My wife got sick of relying on store bought pectin to make her jelly and jam with, so we decided to try this and it works, period. No more wondering and waiting to see if your jelly is going to set. With Agar, there is no doubt as it works, period. Highly recommended, shipped fast and was well packaged.

I used an instapot (not pressure cooker) and still air box to make my petri dishes. Also sprayed the air before working and made sure all my equipment was clean. The agar worked well, though. Mycelium growing quickly.

excellent agar for mycology. easy to work with, you can tell it is not just ordinary agar, it would take me a lot of time and effort to find a recipe this good. Nearly everything I tried on it worked well except for Hericium it was very slow on this stuff. cheers.

This MEA is perfect. Mixes well, measurements are on point, smells right, and mycelium grows on it like crazy. Perfect MEA. The people that are having trouble mixing most likely are not using magnetic stir bars.

great premade agar mix. i almost always make my own agar these days, but i always recommend this brand of MEA mix to people who are nervous about mixing their own, I messed up the first few times i tried to make my own agar, so i tried this premixed brand, and that led to my first success with agar one thing that should be clear: do not try to use your agar recipe with this, follow the instructions on the package. remember that this mix already contains all the ingredients, and if you dont use the recommended amount it will probably not gel up properly

works as expected but I recommend to save yourself money and buy your own mix like potato flakes, corn syrup, and agar-agar.
