Makes programing easy
The serial board makes it easy to program. Saves setup time and hassle dealing with little reset button. Definitely worth the money. The esp32 cam works as advertised.

Hiletgo Cams Need work
I have 2 of these and I have tried every trick documented and they will not work right. Now, I had both working, went to update the programming and neither will communicate with the port. I have tried all the button combo's, shorting 100-gnd etc. My Dev boards work great!! I am very happy with them, but I have never had a camera type work right.I havwe a beautiful security system, without any cams. All built in Hiletgo, please work on the cams, for us little folks, lmbo!!!

No heat sink tape
Lacked thermal tape on the back of the camera module to allow the SD case to be used as a heatsink. I attached some I already had so not a big deal but I'm told the camera generates a lot of heat so it's recommended.

So much fun to play with. Lots of applications you can use them for.
Great fun to play with the various things you can do with this ESP 32 card. Do searching online to find some great ideas.

Easy!
Great! As advertised.... This combo makes it easy to program. It has the USB socket incorporated, so no need to push a button, or connect anything to upload programming. Will probably buy again.

Struggling to make this work on a Mac.
I've watched a number of ESP32-Cam tutorial videos. None of them have helped me get this to work.Additionally, it seems that when using the Arduino IDE (2.3.2, the ARM version for the Silicone chip), it tries to find X-Tools because there's some kind of Python3 reference. Blogs for this suggest simply ignoring it, but the error prevents the code from successfully uploading. This is probably a perfectly good product. But if I can't get it to work because there isn't any implementation documentation provided and none of the other online references are helpful, then this isn't really useful. Honestly, I'm probably going to take a swing at this with a hammer and try a different approach. If anyone has made this work on a Mac, feel free to reach out.

These are so fun to play with!
Well made, both a working as expected, arduino ide, esp32, and camera you can go wrong. hours of time lost tinkering. I think my wife is ready to leave me and I'm not sure, but I think one of my kids moved out at some point. board is clean no defects notice in assembly.

Difficult to Use
1 of the 3 i bought was DOA. It was the first one I tried to use. I probably tried to get it to work way too long before I tried nother one, which did work. I would like to see a USB port or power input port on these plus whatever other electronics is needed, instead of having to use a separate FTDI module.
