Looks and works great!
My DIY installation was doable with 8" steel ramps that I backed my 2017 Forester up onto. Definitely a 2-person job in terms of trying to get the hitch into position, which I learned the hard way. I did it myself with some interesting gerry rigging, including securing it to a floor jack with bungee cords, lifting it up as high as I could and then finding latch points underneath for bungee cords that would not interfere with the positioning to basically hang/suspend it underneath at the same level the jack had raised it to. Suspending it with the bungee cords allowed me to remove the ones fastening the hitch to the floor jack and to get the jack out of the way as well as to thread the bolt guides through the holes on the hitch. It also allowed me to press the hitch up and into the bumper molding. That is where the second person would be helpful if you are planning on doing the install instead of a shop. e.g., You need to be able to handle the awkward weight and balance of the hitch while also using a free hand, or two, to pull (or push) the bumper molding away from the bumper underneath, allowing you to get the crossbar of the hitch tucked up underneath it. That said, once I got the hitch past the bumper molding with the bungee assist, it was relatively easy to press (laying on a creeper) up and into position and for the bolts to slip into place. At that point, I could hold it up with one arm and work the nuts onto the bolts with my free hand. All in all, one of the only true caveats to the install is that the recommended depth to the cutout in the bumper molding is too short. As I've read with other reviews, the recommended dimensions for cutting creates tension on the bumper molding, primarily in regard to the depth of the rectangle and less so the width. Some other reviews talk about having to trim around the retention clip holes on the molding to get the tabs in place and the push rivets reinstalled, but I found that by extending the depth of the cutout for the receiver, it released all of that tension and I was able to fasten the push rivets into the tabs without having to cut around the tabs. I probably took off at least an extra half inch using a dremel tool (about a quarter inch at a time) and cosmetically, it looks fine.

Good hitch
Had to have this professionally installed. They had to cut the lower plastic cover to fit around the hitch and the muffler needed to be unmounted to get the bolts in place.

Not enough clearance from muffler hanger
It butts right up against the muffler hanger, making for a very tight fit, and requiring some screwing around to prevent a constant horrible rattle.

This hitch fits the 2014 Subaru perfectly with a bit of trimming which is made clear in the instructions. I chose this model because it maintains ground clearance. It was professionally installed in relatively short order. Because of age and lack of proper facilities, I would have found this to be a difficult installation.

A great looking hitch option!
I got this model hitch installed on my 2018 Subaru Forester by U-Haul and am very happy with the results. If you want a clean, minimalist look after installation, you want a hitch with a concealed cross bar like this one. You see only the hitch receiver tube when looking at the vehicle, not the bar, like with many other hitch options. Concealed cross tube hitches are definitely more difficult to install, so not a self-install option for the faint of heart (which is why I chose not to do it myself!)The specs on this are well above the towing capabilities of my Forester, so I don't anticipate running into any issues with it, but will update if I ever do!

Should be a bit easier
Ok, first. Not a 1 person job, though I did it alone. Second, templates to cut the bumper cover would have made job much easier as I had to retrim several times to get proper fit around receiver, and you can only do that with the hitch in place. Soo, hitch on and off a couple of times as I didn't want to trim too much. A template to cut heat shield would have been great too but not as big as an issue as the bumper cover.

Nice hitch
The hitch is hidden behind the bumper cover, very nice it doesn't interfere with ground clearance,I have the turbo motor I removed both muffler's and rear bumper cover, the directions given from manufacturer were great.
