Awesom children's book about hajj
This book is great for teaching children about Hajj. The family in the book goes through all the rites. It's the only children's book I have been able to find on the subject.

Best book for children on the Hajj
That this is the best book for children on the Hajj is unfortunately not saying much. Literature on Islam for children tends to be horrendous. I was even speaking to someone who distributes children's titles on Islam and mentioned that she was embarrassed by some of the books that her company had for sale, but that they could not find anything better. Naima Roberts Going to Mecca is written in a smooth and flowing style. It covers all of the basics of the Hajj, but does not really give background history, i.e. why do Muslims go on Hajj in the first place. One will need to know a little bit about the Hajj in order to fill in the details for children. My children keep asking me what one thing is and then another. The appendix at the end is useful for these purposes. My children enjoy reading this book on a regular basis, especially during Hajj season.

Overall an Amazing Read
This book is so helpful with learning about Hajj, but you sorta have to have basic background knowledge first.. Which is hard for little ones. Like what exactly is Hajj and why do we do it etc. But the lyrics of the story are well written.

Great introduction for readers about hajj, but gender neutral language is a must.
Going to Mecca by Na'ima B. Robert is a great book for introducing young readers about the pillar of Islam which is the pilgrimage of hajj to Mecca. Readers get a first view of what goes on and who goes for hajj. I would suggest that the language be more gender neutral such as using "they" and "them" instead of "he," or "she." Also, the author repeats, "heads bare," but the heads of Muslim women are not bare since they are covered with the hijab, so that causes somewhat of confusion for readers, as well as showing a bias in favor of males. Otherwise the illustrations are vibrant and inviting.Check out the YouTube channel: Sami & Amro Reading Time to see and listen to the book read aloud.

Beautiful illustrations, a lovely book
This is a wonderful book that is so so so beautifully illustrated. I bought this book for my 4 and 6 year old but love looking through it myself as the artwork is wonderful. The book covers the different parts of Hajj in a nice was that encourages great conversations about the pilgrimage. Really lovely book and a must have for all home libraries and would be a great addition to public and school libraries too!

Art is the reason to buy this work.
The reason to buy this book is the art! It's wonderful! The story is fine and ms. Roberts was thorough in her efforts, but the writing is sadly nothing special. The art truly is special and worth having in one's collection.

I love this book
I love this book. It is colourful, engaging, interesting and informative all at once. Probably more appropriate for slightly older children (mine is only a year) - as the pages are quite thin and can easily rip.Regardless, it is high quality with excellent grammar and English. The story I find quite enjoyable to read myself! Really pleased with this buy.
