Liam Neeson stars in this action-packed international thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. When his estranged daughter is kidnapped in Paris, a former spy (Neeson) sets out to find her at any cost. Relying on his special skills, he tracks down the ruthless gang that abducted her and launches a one-man war to bring them to justice and rescue his daughter.

Not like the original
The Amazon digital copy of this movie is censored and that is a major injustice to the film. Most of the censors are to do with the original's "ugly" fighting and combat. But what it takes away for the sake of rating is emotion, that of the protagonist. True rage, indifference, and cruelty to those who take and exploit the flesh of ones who are dear - and that is relatable. It is a raw and an honest depiction of a man who has nothing but his daughter to lose. This movie is a guilty pleasure, without a doubt. One that depicts events that is obviously, and unfortunately, highly unlikely - the rescue of a daughter from the undisputable worst of mankind. As a guilty pleasure of said description, the least you could do is treat the really bad guys, well, badly. Or in the case of this film, leave it as it was originally intended. The 18 rating on the Amazon store page is a joke.

Cheap as chips----- worth a buy.
The 1st and best of the 'Taken' franchise which is a top class thriller full of hard, violent action which stays within the bounds of believable. I cant complain about Neeson's fight scenes, they are manageable for a big guy with ex-special forces training. What was irritating was his daughter, another Kim would you believe a.k.a. Jack Bauer's daughter in '24', who flew around like a demented bat until she was kidnapped and drugged before Neeson's Bryan Mills character fought all the East European thugs in Paris to attempt a rescue .Solid support all round for Neeson ('cepting Kim) but nobody much else gets a look in really, this is another Bruce Willis type saving his family. There is a box set with all three 'Taken' films but this is the Extended Harder Cut version and I think that box set will be heavily cut.English subtitles with this Ext Hard Cut.

This film could probably be a 15
Very, very good film. Great soundtrack, great cinematography. Very similar to John Wick - if you like that you'll like this. I'm not super sure why this film is an 18 instead of a 15, John Wick was more violent and was still a 15 - maybe subject matter? That said other 15s have had similar storylines, so if you are a parent with a 15 year old I wouldn't worry too much. Great film, can't really fault it to be honest.P.S. Sorry to my friend Jordan for taking so long to watch this!

Religion and Sex
Every parent nightmare . I have got such experience as mother of my 4 children decamped with them to FFWPU church you know Moonies , and now she plan to run away with them to Korea as in 20202 there will be Messiah coming and North and South Korea get united in one Nuclear experiment. And they sent on me preventivly New Zealand family violence vigilantes who stole 3 years from my kids and Mother with her FFWPU handlers as Andrew Wilson from New Jersey who is one of them intend to make from my children temple prostitutes as in Japan is tradition . An dDue to reality I am not as Liam Neeson armed but situation is the same as Perverts from FFWPU - family Federation for Peace and unification have a bidding pool who will rape my children. This is Religion of Korea japan and New Zealand. Religion and Sex .

Brilliant Film - one of the best
A retired CIA agent travels across Europe and relies on his old skills to save his estranged daughter, who has been kidnapped while on a trip to Paris.Taken is a great action packed thriller that will not disappoint you. The action leaves you at the edge of your seat and gives you that rush! and it just never stop. It's a huge thrill ride that leaves you eager and makes your heartbeat. A simple but good idea executed well by the director. It does more then enough to keep you entertained. It get's very intense and thrilling at times too. A movie with intense non-stop action through out. What more could you want?Liam Neeson does superbly in his role as an ex-spy, who is professionally trained to kill, that goes save his daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) after she is kidnapped (taken). The length of the film could be longer but it's still a decent amount of time as the action never stops. If your looking for a really fast paced action packed, you can do much worse than Taken.

If you have not seen it do so,brilliant film
I had reservations about this film as it has Liam Neeson in the main role as a US Security Op who dealt with preventing problems before they start but due to this job costing him his marriage & missing his one child growing up he retires to enjoy time getting to be a part of his daughter's life. His daughter & her friend get the chance to follow a favourite group around Europe with the first place being Paris so with great hesitation Liam's character lets the daughter go & no sooner has the daughter & her friend landed in Paris they are both abducted by Albanian Sex traffickers. What follows is a Father wanting his daughter back & does shoot, kill anyone who gets in his path.I would like to point out that this type of film has been done time & time again but for some reason this feels more like it draws you in & I think this may be down to the acting talents of Liam as should this movie had been with Steven Seagal in it then it would have been an okay movie but not a good one.The action is non stop & they make a movie with continual action & movement of the story with it never letting up for deep philosophical moments which is a good move as should you have liked the pace of say 24 then you will be avid to seeing this movie.

Best of the 3, BUT !!!!!
The film is good entertainment certainly the best of the trilogy putting Neeson into the action man mode, my only complaint is the quality of the picture especially in the darker scenes showing lots of grain and picture interference that spoils the viewing looking more like DVD than HD quality Blu-ray this seems to be a common complaint on films transferred onto Blu-ray without any sort of upgrading.

Paranoid parent was right to worry
Perhaps if his ex wife wasn't being so set on making him look like a deadbeat none of this would happen and the film would have been called a summer in Paris or something. Still it would have been a bit rubbish so probably better no one listened to Liam
