Revell 05207 Harbour Tug Boat

I have modeled this kit several times, and have found it to be a very Detailed and accurate kit of a Harbor tug. The Long beach a Tug in California is one of these tugs and the model matches very well to her. The only short falls in the this kit. are the crew could use to be reworked. the figures are nicely detailed but are a little out of scale. and a tug usually has more than three hands on them. The life boat is a nice detailed part but most tugs in the late 40's had a double ended boat. not a boat with a square stern. by the 60's most of these boats were removed to make deck space and only a co2 life raft was carried. In fact working with photos, you can actually model this tug as it was built as per the kit. or add and remove parts to show these tugs at different stages of their careers. on my last model of this tug I removed the after mast, life boat, davits. added a flag staff and modeled her with Moran tug colors on her. Unlike one reviewer claimed. the model is NOT deceiving, and is fact worth every nickle. It is an excellent kit of a harbor tug. and a great addition to any maritime collection. I in fact intend to build another of this kit.

It's a well designed model ship kit. My only complaint is that it is very small and the parts are sometimes difficult to work with.

Love putting models together, and I LOVED putting this one together. I gave more attention to details on the cabins.

I bought this for a diorama of a ship wrecked in a storm so it's not a total loss. It doesn't look ANYTHING like the image online - it doesn't even look like the image on the package it came in. The pieces are all flimsy red plastic. The directions are really bad and the whole thing is just CHEAP. It looks like it could've come out of a cracker jacks box except it's too big. The directions say to glue the pieces together only with the model glue but there's no glue in the box. I do not normally write reviews, even though I firmly believe in giving credit where it is due. I am not one to "bash" a product, but I'd say don't waste your time or your money on this product!

As other reviews have stated, this is an old kit. Every piece needs to be shaved and carved and there are some voids that need filled because parts don't always match up. Because of all that, I loved this kit! It was closer to a wooden build rather than a plastic one because each piece needed some carving. Took me days to assemble, rather than the hours required to assemble a Tamiya or better kit. So I would just warn people that this is not an easy kit to have come out looking good. Take time, enjoy it, and the final piece looks great.

Clearly a used model. Box arrived looking well worn and clumsily taped at both ends. Very disappointing, as this was intended for a Christmas present, but I wouldn't give it in the dilapidated state that it's in.

Plastic was red and very brittle, 2 pieces fell apart while just holding them, but also seemed soft when sanding the nubs off and cutting out of mold frames. Very hard to work with. Love Revell models, but this one was a little disappointing.

A very simple model to build; however, parts were missing. The parts mold numbers are hard to read or not showing.
