Acrylic Dome/Plastic Hemisphere - Clear - 1.5" Diameter, 1/4" Flange with Pre-Drilled Holes

Beautiful dome. High quality, plastic, highly polished, no scratches, no complaints at all.

I cut a hole in a 5/8 plywood just enough for this bowl to fit in. I used a cardboard sheet to create my template. I reduced the diameter during first cut and reduced it slowly until the bowl fit tight.What this did was, I didnt have to screw the bowl down as that seemed to the point of failure for others. And I didnt want any sharp stuff jutting out on the surface.Used a couple of heavy duty L brackets from hardware store and mounted below the window.Between the cat tree and this bowl, our teen kitten spends most of his time in this bowl - watching outside the window or even sleeping.Until now, the bowl hasnt come loose, despite our kitty doing all sort of acrobatic stuff on/in it. If it does, Im planning to use some sort of acrylic safe adhesive to bond the lipping to the plywood.Best purchase ever!

The acrylic dome was delivered as described.It was inadequately packaged by Amazon shipping, enclosed in a plastic bag for minimal protection, but with no padding to limit rattling or scraping in an oversized Amazon box. It was, however, not damaged in shipping which attests to its durability. It probably doesn't matter, but some air-filled packs in the box with it, or bubble wrap, would have been best practice.This dome has one long striae which distorts the view on 1/3 of the dome's clear hemisphere. It was an improvement on a dome I had purchased previously from another supplier which had several flaws of this type. While I was hoping for better optical quality, there was no basis in the product specification to expect it would be completely free of distortion. As is, it is useful for displays, but not for imaging through it that would need the full 180 degree field of view.The dome's 12-inch diameter is on the inside. The lip adds 1 inch to the radius around the perimeter so it takes 14 inches in diameter of surface space and covers a 12 inch diameter hole.

Didn’t really need to “install” it because I bought it as a dome for our indoor faerie garden. It works perfectly!! I got sick of replacing dead plants so I went to artificial grass, moss, and pretty bushes. All artificial and all purchased on amazon. To keep the dust and dog hair out I needed a dome to fit over the area and this is perfect as I’ve already said. A totally different use for this item, but since I got it using amazon reward points it was low cost. Look at the photo of the faerie garden without the dome and with the dome. I am super happy. Note: it came with a crack in the dome (it’s hidden behind the faerie house) so I’m sending it back for a replacement. Wanted to post a pic right away anyway, but I’ll update the review if the next globe isn’t up to par.

Build quality and dimensions match what was advertised, clarity of plastic is crystal clear, plenty of mounting holes and well wrapped. Can’t wait to get this installed on the project it is for!

I got this to protect a live-streaming camera I mounted on top of my car. It withstood an onslaught of two-inch hail without a scratch. If that wasn't enough, I wiped out on the interstate doing 65-70 MPH, the car flipped over and came to a stop upside-down. The dome itself had a big dent and it cracked when I tried to pop it out. However, my camera was completely untouched and still works perfectly! When I get everything back in order, I will be purchasing another one of these

Bought two 3" domes. Plastic appears clear in one but it is so warped along a line (running the entire circumference) to the point that it is unusable optically with my camera. There is a large area that does not focus light correctly causing a blurred area running straight through the center of the field of view of my camera. The second dome has same issue but smaller area off center.

Its pretty strong nice thick plexiglass. Problem is it came scratched with a deep gouge in it. I would return it but i need it now. Came in plastic bag in box but a layer of padding when shipping would be a good suggestion for the seller in the future.
