remove the clutter - very functional - discreet
I bought this as an alternative to the increasing need for USB chargers around the house. It has two 120V outlets and two USB outlets. I placed it on one side of a kitchen counter, where we use to recharge phones, iPads, kindles etc...At first sight, you will not really notice that this outlet is any different from the other outlets in the house, Being in a very visible spot, it does not attract particular attention. This is probably due to the sliding covers of the USB outlets. You can plug any USB cables (Apple type or mini USB) by sliding the cover open and pushing the USB connector in. At first it takes two hands to do that but you learn quickly how to do it directly with one hand, so, very easy to use. Electrical performance is satisfying: It can recharge iPad, iPhone, Kindle or smaller electronics. So the current rating of the charger is not a limiting factor. The 120V outlets are normal, nothing to complain about. These are not GFCI (typically used in areas that get wet, for safety). You can have two USB cables plugged in and still use the two electrical outlets, as long as the plugs are not too invasive (any power cord will work for sure, but it you use a large wart wall charger, it may be on the way of the USB plugs).Installation:I removed the existing power outlet and replaced it with this one fairly easily. The wiring is super simple and well explained if you have doubts. The fit was a tiny little tighter than the original one, I had to carved slightly the plaster to fit the new one in and mount it flush. But you do not need to be a handy man to do it yourself.I bought it a year ago or so and I have seen many of similar products aver since. This one was not really cheap but at the time, there were not as many choices. It is a good design tough and I do not regret a bit my purchase. I recommend it.

Good product but... major oversight in the instructions
Basically a good product...However there is a major shortcoming in the instructions..Though it has (2) USB ports, if only a single device is used the left USB port must be used. If U plug only the single device into the right USB port it has no output... But if (2) devices are plugged into USB port 1 & 2, both ports supply the proper output voltage. I can understand why it was deslgned this way, but the manufacturer must state this condition in the instructions!! In my case when I found no voltage output for USB port 2, and my 1st thought was the product was defective. Also checked their website and found no mention of this weakness. The other point to stress is to be sure to make sure U have enough clearance in the electrical box for the wires, and bend these back carefully.

Great concept, bad implementation
I give this device full marks for the concept: it looks nice, you don't sacrifice a power outlet to gain the USB ports, and the USB ports are separated enough that a wide USB plug doesn't make it difficult to use the other USB plug. However, and this is a total deal breaker, it is impossible to install in a standard electrical box. The unit itself is the exact width of a standard box, leaving no room to get the wires past to the contacts. If the connections were made on the back of the unit (rather than the side, towards the front, so the wires have to go past the body), it would work. If you have a large electrical box (I suspect the plastic ones that are commonly used nowadays would be fine), it would work. Even if they had just provided channels in the sides for the wires to run in, it would have worked. However, as it stands, if you have a standard metal electrical box (such as if you are replacing an existing outlet in an existing house), good luck - it will almost certainly NOT fit. I had expected this plug to be larger than a standard electrical outlet, and the fit to be tight. I had not expected it to be sized exactly to the dimensions of the electrical box, and the fit impossible.

USB ports very handy
My husband finally got this installed. It required a trip to the hardware store to replace the electrical box in the wall because this unit took up so much space there wasn't enough room left for the wires. It needed an extra-deep electrical box. So in replacing the electrical box, he damaged a piece of the drywall, and the cover plate on this was not big enough to cover the boo-boo. We looked to replace the cover plate with a wider one, but this unit is different than everything else on the market so is not interchangeable with generic cover plates you can get in bigger sizes. Drywall patch here we come. So that is my only gripe that this should be made more universal to standard cover plates and electrical boxes.

Works fine
I bought this so I would not need the power adapter behind my TV to power my Ceton Echo. I did have to take it with me to Home depot to find a box that would fit. The current box was for old work, so it was not a big deal. The ears do not seem to be removable like a normal outlet, so the plate does not fit against the wall as well as I would like. This wont be a problem with new work boxes though. It is not really a big deal for me as the outlet is behind my TV.I did notice a buzzing noise coming from the box when i used it to charge my iphone. The buzzing did not happen with only the Echo.

good idea questionable design
great idea, like the doors over the USB ports to protect them. Unfortunately do not fit well in gang boxes. Will not fit in older ones, and even the new two and a quarter wideare extremely tight. Also faceplates y do not go flush against wall. also the fans that are inside of the gang boxes get in the way even with an extra deep box. A simple job took modification and a lot of extra time to install. There is nowhere for the wires to run along the body of the unit which makes it difficult and very tight in the gang boxes. Wish it would have been thought out a little better or hand the holes in the back.

Great
Great product Instillation is a little more difficult than anticipated. The outlet is considerably wider than a standard one but a new housing fixed that and it works great.

Non-standard unit
Check the dimensions of your electrical outlet. The description isn't as clear as it should be. This will not fit in any standard electrical box.

Works
Works as is but expect to have oversized outlets to make it work

Works great on iPhone & iPad.
This works great to charge my iPhone and iPad, like having just one cord and no plugs in the wall. The plug is not made for a kitchen split and there are no wiring instructions for how to make it work there. Careful when installing in the kitchen make sure you know what your doing as you can simply replace the kitchen plug in the same way. You can only use one side of the split and have to tie the other off.
