This cleaner saved my carpet from cat urine. Let me show you how to save yours.
I have two cats, and one started litterbox guarding. This caused the second cat to use my white living room carpet as a de facto bathroom. I've dealt with feline "pee wars" before, and I was seriously considering replacing the carpet, since I had to do so before. This was after a professional cleaned the carpet for multiple hundreds of dollars (and wasted my time and my money) and I used any and all enzyme and oxy cleaners to blot and scrub by hand (protip: Nature's Miracle is far from miraculous). Then I bought this carpet cleaner. I'm a small woman (5'4''), so I can't lift and maneuver a Rug Doctor around my split-level house. This cleaner is only 13-ish pounds, and I can carry it one-handed easily. It makes turns better than a clunky industrial cleaner, which was critical to me in cleaning the carpet around my fireplace (my cat had created a perimeter around my living room to voice her displeasure of being ousted from her box). Using a black light to find these spots was a crucial step, so be sure to spend an extra $10 in your order to get one for your upcoming carpet battle. Here's what I did to restore my carpet after an epic cat bombing: 1. Use the black light to find pee spots and pre-treat your carpet. Whatever shows up as bright green, douse that sucker with your cleaner of choice (Anti-Icky Poo and Odoban are personal favorites). Soak it for at least an hour (or even overnight for tough spots). If you can keep kitty away from the spot while it soaks, all the better. 2. Fill up the Clean Tank with hot water and your cleaner of choice. I use Odoban, which needs to be diluted, so it works well for spraying on the carpet hot and sucking it up. The tank has little lines to show what the mixture should be, and it has proven effective to follow. Be sure to screw on the cap firmly, so it doesn't leak. 3. Gently drop the Clean Tank into the top slot (it'll click when it's in place), and put in the Dirty Tank in the front. Tilt it at an angle to get it to latch correctly (it'll click at the top). Same goes for the brush and the nozzle case on the bottom of the cleaner (both will click when properly installed). Make sure to listen for those clicks; otherwise, you'll have dirty water spraying all over the place! 4. Plug it in and go to town on that carpet! The Deep Clean option is the only one I use, since I want to get it right the first time. The instructions give a good overview, but freely utilize the trigger sprayer on the bottom of the handle for overall soaking and cleaning, and the CleanShot button on top of the handle for a concentrated shot over the pee spots themselves. 5. Suck up as much of the dirty water as you can. This takes A LOT of patience, so don't just do a few minutes over a spot. You can only make a pee smell go away if you use a proper deodorizer and suck up as much urine as possible, and this cleaner will pull up crap you didn't know was there. It's normal if you initially pull up gobs of pet hair and blackish dirt; this little machine packs a surprising punch of suction power. Bear in mind that Bissell has very vague language about voiding the warranty if you use the machine with something other than their cleaners. I personally don't care; good odor cleaners will foam up and give you an "odor bloom" that'll smell like a mix of pee and cleaner. That means it's working! 6. With all that being said, empty and clean the Dirty Tank early and often. Your cleaner will foam up quickly, so empty the tank before it starts leaking out the back. The machine will give a higher pitched whine when the Dirty Tank is full, but it's easy to miss it when you're not paying attention. There's a line that shows when the tank is at its max, but it's a really small amount. Most times, I only notice when the foam starts coming out the back when I'm pushing the machine. 7. Also clean out the brush, nozzle, and lint screen at the top of the Dirty Tank after it gets full. Don't be lazy and skip this part! The cleaner also sucks up debris like a regular vacuum, so the lint screen will have lots of gunk in it. (The screen is bright teal, so it's easy to find. You can pop it out, rinse out the crap, and pop it back in.) The brush and nozzle just need a rinse to be cleaned, but be sure to wipe away the slushy pet hair that accumulates behind the brush on the machine's base. If you don't, eventually the brush won't spin. They have a cleaning tool you can use to pick out dirt/hair, but I find that I only use it on the nozzle if a wad of hair gets stuck inside it. 8. Suck up dirty water until you can't see it moving up the funnel on top of the nozzle anymore. This means you've sucked up all you can, so it's time to dump, rinse, and wipe off hair and dirt as described above. The cleaner comes with a nifty storage tray where you can put the nozzle and brush to dry outside of the cleaner. 9. Repeat the above as necessary. Most tough pet stains need more than one treatment, so expect to be doing the same process over the next day or so. You'll know it's clean and deodorized when you don't smell that funky "odor bloom" anymore when you walk into the room. 10. As a final note: Register your product on Bissell's website. You'll also find replacement parts if you search for model number 25299. I bought a hardwood brush for my machine, since I love how clean it makes my carpet, and a replacement lint screen so I can swap it out to save some time while cleaning. Best of luck and Godspeed on your cat pee quest, fellow feline friend!

Easy, compact and does the job!
First, see me photo I uploaded. The dirty water tank is BLACK after cleaning a small section of my sons room to test it out. The carpet looks brand new in that area I cleaned now. That is awesome. His carpet didn’t even LOOK that dirty but man it definitely was deceiving dirty after seeing how clean it got from this little machine. I’m not an avid carpet cleaner and I don’t have a lot of experience with other carpet cleaners aside from one I rented a few years ago that gave me very minimal assistance with the overall cleaning of my carpet. So, what I was looking for was something that was EASY and efficient to spot and deep clean carpets. I wanted something that was lightweight and compact. This fit all my needs. The set up is extremely easy and user friendly. It’s very lightweight and compact. I did have to fill up the clean water tank 6 times to clean one bedroom and a hallway. I’m fine with that since it was so easy to do. My ivory carpet in the areas I’ve done look brand new now. There were spots (thanks to my kids!) that I had gotten down on my hands and knees to scrub, yet never came clean. This carpet cleaner eradicated those stains after a few brush overs. Amazing! I’m very happy with this purchase!

Good, but could be better
I share a 1br apartment, that is mostly laminate wood except for the bedroom, with more cats than my lease allows. And as any cat servant knows, if you have even 2 inches of carpet or rugs, they will pick THAT spot to vomit. I bought this because my CSI-quality UV light was showing "OMG" levels of ick after a year of living here. The great: lightweight, and very easy to use. Both the clean water and waste container are super easy to figure out, without any instructions. The good: Very, very quiet as far as vacuums go. I was expecting some Dyson-esque levels of noise, to let me know it was "cleaning", but it definitely would not wake a baby sleeping in the next room. The okay: Needs MUCH more powerful suction. Only extracts, at best, 5-10% of the water+solution. I'd gladly accept more noise if I could see more filth ending up in the waste tank. Sure, I get it, carpet fibers absorb liquid, and hold on to it. And it's not like my carpets / rugs still feel damp 30-60 minutes after. Just if I am putting a gallon of water+solution into the carpet, I kinda want to see a quart of coming out! Also, you need to keep an eye on the clean water tank when you are holding the trigger. It will drain faster than you think.... like 1QT in under 2 minutes. The bad: sucks as a vacuum. Or rather, doesn't suck enough? lol! It did a great job of creating small wet hairballs, that my normal vacuum missed. But it completely failed to suck them up into the waste tank. I had to follow up with the normal vacuum, which now had no problem 'finding' these hairballs and containing them. The WTF, how could the engineers be soo dumb: It needs some simple circuit to detect if the waste bin is fully seated, or not. I wasted half my cleaning time because I didn't "slap" the waste bin fully, so there was literally no suction happening at the floor level.

Lightweight and works really well
As an older (not so strong anymore) couple with two older dogs, we needed a machine for frequent cleanups upstairs and down. Yes, as some reviewers have complained, the clean and dirty water tanks are small - needs one clean water/solution tank refill for a 12x12 room on Deep Cleaning. For us that is a small trade off for ease of use. Heavy-duty units probably have greater cleaning power and more suction but this BISSELL JetScrub has plenty of both for our purposes as evidenced by the contents of the dirty water tank (the 5-star ratings reflect our requirements rather than comparison with other products). On first use we discovered a hairline crack in the dirty water tank. BISSELL support responded quickly and sent an immediate replacement. We thought there was a solution-dispensing issue because the dirty water tank quickly filled with so much foam (picture a quart of shaving cream!). BISSELL support didn’t have an answer for this but sent a number of free products to make us feel better. We eventually realized the foam is produced by residue left in the carpet by previous rental units and numerous Resolve spot cleanups. We are going to clean those areas with no detergent until the foam is gone. If you have miles of carpet to clean, this is not the unit for you (changing those tanks would be a hassle). If you are looking for a lightweight machine that works really well and good customer support, this one is highly recommended.

BISSELL JetScrub Pet Upright Carpet Cleaner, 25299
Today, 04-23-2021, is the first REAL test of my new Bissell Jet Scrub Carpet Cleaner. PLEASE READ entire review. I have another name brand of a full-size rug scrubber which works great!! I have three cats that have a dedicated litter box room. I have five litter boxes in that room (two additional boxes upstairs). I keep that many boxes just in case something would happen to me or as in the past, one kitty gets a UTI or bladder infection and has to use the box(es) several times an hour due to the aliment and I can't get to the boxes to clean right immediately. Anyway, I clean the boxes and the litter room 4 times a day. I believe in cleaning your cleaning tools, sweepers, etc, and my larger scrubber has MULTIPLE screws to it and to take it apart daily or even every other day was wearing out the screws. THIS BISSELL is a dream to use, to take apart (no screws), and to put back together!!!! PLUS, it cleans the litter room like a pro!!! It is NOT HEAVY AT ALL!!! I don't have a bad comment in any category concerning this product. I love this product for the cleanliness it provides but the fact it is compact and a breeze to take apart and clean and snap back together is an additional selling point for me.

This little scrubber is amazing!!
I bought this machine April 7th 2021, so I have had it for close to a year and a half. I have the big bissell proheat Revolution pet, and it doesn’t even do as good as this. It will clean carpet because the dirty water tank has dirty water in it, but it won’t scrub out stains. This machine will scrub out stains. Because the proheat just doesn’t cut it, I end up grabbing this instead. I’m not sure it really does a deep clean because it’s more meant for spots or to be used in smaller areas. But I love the pre treat button on the handle instead of that little peddle you have to push for pre treat on the proheat. And I love how easy it is to switch between express or deep clean. The suction is ready good but if I’m trying to suck up a wet dog pee stain it won’t really suck it all up making it difficult for me to get the already wet stain out. So I usually have to soak up as much as I can with a towel then use this. It’s great on removing dry dog pee stains. I lots of times just use this to clean a whole room but like I said it’s more for spot cleaning so I end up having to imply and add clean water at least twice. So for deep cleaning I’m looking at another machine.

Great investment for homes with pets
We have three dogs two corgis and a gsd. Our carpets were a mess and between the Dyson and renting a larger machine we were loosing the battle. This purchase was worth it. It does a great job cleaning the carpets (it might take two passes with drying in between) but you can not beat having one at home. It is not loud quite light and does a good job even getting after urine. Few tips use hot water and make sure to use it before it cools down. Pre treat soiled areas first helps the machine lift. make sure to vacuum prior (this thing will grab more hair later but it helps to get as much dry off the ground as possible. I think the included cleaner is pretty good but can't speak to the Scotchgard element yet. Cord is a little short but it's a problem you can work around. Also great part is it's so easy to clean and does not leave any unpleasant odors after (unless you use an agressive pre treat but that's the pre treat not the cleaning solution. Worth the money would buy again.

Great concept but needs improved!
I previously bought the 2x Revolution and while it definitely worked well my hand was incredibly sore for days after using it and it was a pain to clean. The dirty tank spilled dirty water all over my floor twice because apparently I neglected to screw the bottom on just perfect. (Mind you, it seemed correctly attached, no indication it wasn't until water flooded my floor.) Bought the JetScrub instead hoping the design and size would resolve the issues I had with it's bigger brother. Pros: I Love the size of the JetScrub, the retractable handle, the ease of cleaning it out after and being able to remove the brush which allows you to thoroughly clean behind the brush. The dirty water tank doesn't have the weird little draining tab or the screwy screw on bottom like the 2x Revolution. The jetscrub's dirt tank opens fully and easily on top - much better design. Obviously the size and weight is easier on my hand/arm but even the JetScrub gets heavy when pulling the machine back. Cons: The JetScrub could be perfect IF it two things were addressed: 1. It needs a stronger motor to provide more suction. 3amps compared to 6.8amps in the 2x Revolution is noticeably weaker. Seriously Bissell? Both are in similar $200+ cost brackets. Even the $100 turbo has a stronger 3.4 motor, several of the spotbots are designed with 5+ amps. I only used the express clean setting on the JetScrub and my carpet was left much wetter than it was on the deep setting of the Revolution. For lower pile area rugs it was better but again I only used the lighter cleaning mode for fear the suction couldn't handle the deep clean mode. 2. Lastly, at this price point, the unit should have the ability to attach a small hose to spot clean upholstery. I’ve considered Hoover’s Smartwash as it seems to be the best of both worlds and would address many of the issues I had with the 2x Revolution, except it is still big and probably quite heavy. For now I will keep the JetScrub. It does work, just not as well as it could or should for the price paid. A few tweaks to the JetScrub and I would definitely upgrade and recommend it to others. Come on Bissell, you can do it! I anxiously await for a new and improved JetScrub!
