Scratches on disc 2 and 3
3 stars cause 1 out of 3 discs worked perfectly, bout halfway through disc 2 it started skipping, stopping and going to the end of the episode. Upon inspection both disc 2 and 3 had scratches, we didn't get through disc 2 so didn't bother checking to see if disc 3 actually worked. But, it was packaged properly and in shrink wrap when it arrived, so no idea where the scratches came from.

One of the most beautiful, thought-provoking, funny & heartbreaking CN programmes I've seen
The 2010's hadn't been a particularly great decade for Cartoon Network, as most of the programmes they produce weren't, shall we say, top quality (the worst being the dreadful TEEN TITANS GO! [2013-????]). But, there were two shows which proved that the channel can still make great animation: one was ADVENTURE TIME (2010-2018), and the other is this, STEVEN UNIVERSE (2013-2020), created by Rebecca Sugar, who had worked as an artist on ADVENTURE TIME.Set in the fictional town of Beach City, on the east coast of the US, the series follows the titular character, a half-human/half-Gem boy who lives with three Crystal Gems, ageless alien warriors who project human forms from magical gemstones. Steven inherited his powers from his mother, Rose Quartz (the leader of the Crystal Gems), and accompany Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl on protecting humanity from monsters and threats. At the same time, Steven tries to cope with the burden of living up to his mother's legacy, and his relationships with his father Greg ('If every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs'), best friend Connie, and Lion, his magical pink-coloured lion who shares a connection with Rose.STEVEN UNIVERSE starts off as a simple and often light series with Steven as a naïve, excited kid. But halfway through, with the two-parter 'Mirror Gem'/'Ocean Gem', the show begins to evolve: hidden depths of the characters are explored, more history of the settings get revealed, and the show dives into themes that makes STEVEN UNIVERSE so much more than just a lightweight TV series. The most notable episodes of this season 'Lion 3: Straight To Video', 'On The Run', 'Rose's Scabbard' and the two-part season finale, 'The Return/Jail Break'.The songs written and performed for STEVEN UNIVERSE are masterful, putting the majority of the so-called 'Oscar bait songs' to shame. While I was a bit concerned at first over the fact that most, if not all, of the episodes were eleven minutes long, the fact that the cast and crew were able to insert so much in that duration is amazing. Steven's voice may be grating to some during the first half of this season, but it was intentional due to the fact that Zach Callison's voice was breaking at the time, and he will soon grow on you. Another character to mention is Lars, who works at Big Donut with Sadie that Steven hangs out. Some people dislike Lars, so I will give my response: When the show gets to the fifth season, it will be worth it about Lars.STEVEN UNIVERSE is a wonderful programme that provides hope and optimism, which is something we could all use these days. That's why the people of this world SHOULD believe in Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl and Steven.Reviewer: Ben David W
