Basic Parkour: Parkour Training For Beginners (Survival Fitness)

GOOD, SOLID BASICS ARE ALL YOU NEED.
After I purchased this book I noticed a review that mentioned how short the actual book was. True that. It's about 35 pages including the covers and the index which for some reason exists at both the beginning and end of the book. HOWEVER, this book is an excellent little package full of useful knowledge. Each page or so contains instructions for one move, jump, climb, etc. along with hand drawn illustration(s). This is the information you would get if your friend who does parkour took you to the park to teach you the basics. It's straight forward with no flowery extras. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to start free running but doesn't have anyone to teach them. It's good, solid basics. Thank you.

Key word is 'basic'.
I really should have checked the page count before I read this thing.Basic Parkour is exactly what it says. It has short, clear instructions with the occasional set of pictures to help you understand the essential moves of freerunning. The problem is the amount of content. At 32 pages, you could easily finish this whole book in 20 minutes.I give it 4 stars for the content, but I'd wait till this is on sale again before you buy.

Excellent intorduction to parkour! Highly Recommended!
This book is an excellent primer for anyone who wants to get into parkour as a hobby. All the basic moves are given in great detail, with pictures for easier understanding. Parkour is a great way to stay in shape because it works all the muscles and requires a great deal of endurance, balance and flexibility. I can’t think of a better way to stay in shape.‘Basic Parkour’ will tell you everything you need to know. From how to land safely to “running” up a wall (how is that even possible?), this book spells it out in a clear, concise manner.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is either interested in parkour or is looking for a fun and exciting way to stay in shape.

Better prepared
My friend used to pick on me for that I don't know anything on the parkour which he likes and practices a lot. This one gives me very good first impression. I'm gonna be better prepared now:). Not sure I'm gonna try it on my own though and show off before my friend, need some more advice. Thank you for a kick-off.

Not for parokour funs.
The two stars are personal (as all reviews). I'm really interested in parkour, and i started to learn it only half year ago. To get close and know what parkour is truely this isn't the best book if you highly interested in the understanding of this "art of motion".But if you interested in the survival art and you just need some other ideas to learn, this could be a good book for you. It is short and have most of the basic motions of the sport, which could be enough if you just like to have a taste of it. For me this book wasn't a satisfying one.

Go for it! You will not be disappointed.
I had no idea what Parkour was until reading this wonderfully written doctrine of the sport. Mr. Fury takes us through a very intricately coordinated account of the multiple techniques involved in learning the art of Parkour. He makes you look at your surroundings in a whole different light, every angle and curve becomes a new surface to run up or vault over. If you are at all interested in participating in this sport then I would highly recommend this book to you. Go for it, have some fun!!

More like a pamphlet
The “book” is more like a pamphlet. Not very many pages. Shouldn’t have cost as much as it did. My son liked it. That’s what really matters.

Quick and very summarized
Basic parkour techniques, a big part of the book is about other books from the collection. It is ok if you want to learn quickly what is parkour about, but not much further

Decent quality for what you pay
A cheaper book but it's for my 13 year old son, for the price it's a great deal.

Really dissapointed, I saw powerpoint presentation that looks better.
Whish I could have saw the inside amd the amount of pages before buying. I was expecting a book, note copies of handmade sketches.

Cool Name, however when he uses the term basic
Cool Name, however when he uses the term basic, it is very very basic. The book itself is a tiny slip of an instruction manual, the pictures don't show enough of any detail, and though the written descriptions are both very clear very concise, they are so concise they only cover what moves to perform, and he forgets to write 'why' they are useful. For example he mentions the term Q.M. and informs you how to move your body. he does state how Q.M is really good grounding for balance. So I could recommend investing in this book to supplement a back to basics approach and expand on any other parkour books, however don't buy it alone as your sole guide to parkour.
