Great guide
I have been away from the saltwater/reef tank environment for a while and this book was helpful and full of valuable information for someone who is a beginner as well as someone who is knowledgeable and needs some refreshing information

Exactly what it says and more!
This is a great guide for anyone in the hobby. I've been reef keeping for nearly 4 years now and this is a great tool to use to make sure you're doing everything properly. The tables within it are extremely useful for any experience level. Not only does it present great information, it also gives you a few laughs here and there, especially in the beginning regarding the writers initial experience with saltwater tanks (we've all been there). I can't think of another book that was as easy and enjoyable to read and also provided some vital information regarding the hobby. Overall, this is a must read for anyone, new or old, within the saltwater fish tank hobby.

very helpful
This is the first book i read before seeing up my first tank and it helped me alot. I do wish it had gone a little more in depth about fish species but overall a very helpfull tool and I couldn't have started without it. The only other thing I wish it would have done is given me a dictionary type structure that informed of didn't things. Like what a protein skimmer was or what a refugium was. I had no idea going into what these things were just that I needed them.

Contains information you won't see anywhere else, but is very poorly presented and unedited
I'm a new marine aquarist. I bought 8 books on Amazon, including this one. This definitely isn't the "one" book you should have. The author is incredibly knowledgeable, but the book is poorly organized, poorly written and unedited. Not many typos, it's just that almost none of the information is presented in form that makes it easy to learn. Seems like a lot of the information was just taken from PowerPoint slides, which it might have been since the author used to teach marine aquarium classes. Author frequently jumps right into a subject without introducing the subject, or introducing it appropriately. He repeats the same information over and over, oftentimes just a paragraph or two later, sometimes in multiple chapters. Definitions are often presented chapters later than when the term was first used. It's obvious this is a self-published book and the author wrote it over a long period of time, with large breaks in writing, and then he didn't re-read the whole thing to remove the redundancy. A few times the suggestions are conflicting, such as he tells you how to add new marine life to your aquarium in a day, and then in a later chapter says never to introduce new marine life without quarantining it for a week plus. With that said, I'm glad I got the book and I do recommend it to any new aquarist. It has lots of commonsense advice that I didn't find in any other book. His was the only book that talked about how to move a large aquarium (boy, I wish I had read that a few days ago). He discussed the refugium the best. He has concise tables on the chemical values you need to be looking for depending on your type of tank (most of the other books discuss each chemical in detail but don't summarize in the end). His is the only book that warns that salt creep can lead to fires (over and over). His is the only that talks about making sure you have drip loops on your electrical, coral dips, an entire chapter on ich sickness, etc. and so on. The author is very knowledgeable and has very good intent, and shares a lot, but the poor organization and zero editing makes this book more of a add-on to your marine book library than a central one.

Great introduction to the Saltwater Aquarium
This book was a quick but informative read. It provides necessary information to gain a high level understanding of what it takes to set up, maintain, and enjoy a saltwater aquarium.Signal strengths of the book include the reference tables and provided templates for for maintenance logs.

A Must Read for Reef Aquarists
At this point in time I would consider myself an expert aquarist. It has taken a lot of time, trial and error, and heartbreak to reach this level. This book would have saved me a lot of troubles if I had it when I first started in the reefing hobby. It's very informative and breaks the hobby down in a very simplistic manner that anyone can understand. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in keeping a reef aquarium and even for those who have the experience but would like a refresher.

Best thing your buy for your tank !!
How many of us fall into the trap of reading google for advice, only to be run around in circles and get lost in the net, and being no wiser or worse still, using someone's advice and end up costing us money on a miracle product? Yep me too....Hence night time reading book. From the outset infound this book a very informative read and could relate to the author in a way I'd done myself in the past, costing me my old marine tank in a crash...Dare I say it, best £5 I've spent on my tank, and handy having it for knowledge for my kids In years to come. Very modern, very informative and well written.

One of the best books about mini reef Aquarium keeping
The great merit of this book it is 100 per cent practical. The writter is an Aquarium shop owner and an entenpreneur, he goes right on the ball, and sure his tips would save a lot of money to beginners and even experienced aquarists. I have kept saltwater aquariums for more than 40 years and it is one of the best book I have read about the mater.Gaspar
