Limited box set containing six 180gm vinyl LPs. This set pulls together the studio and live albums originally released before the band's tragic plane crash. These LPs released between 1973 and 1977 include an exact reproductions of the original artwork to retain authenticity and are all contained within a rigid slipcase box. Lynyrd Skynyrd was the definitive Southern rock band, fusing the overdriven power of blues-rock with a rebellious Southern image and a hard rock swagger. They were a hard-living, hard-driving rock 'n' roll band and though they may have jammed endlessly on-stage, their music remained firmly entrenched in blues, rock, and country. The band rose to worldwide recognition on the basis of its driving live performances and signature tunes 'Sweet Home Alabama' and 'Free Bird'. However, at the peak of their success, three members died in an airplane crash in 1977, putting an abrupt end to the band's most popular incarnation

Great Vinyl Set
VINYL SET VERSION: This is a great deal for a set of wonderful albums from Lynyrd Skynyrd. The vinyl is at least 180 gram, so you can enjoy thick, quality records that will last for the long haul. Theres no added media outside of just the albums and their artwork, which is ok by me as thats what I wanted when I purchased this. The only thing I'll say is the container thats used to hold all the albums is a little lackluster and looks cheap but since you don't have to store the albums in this, its not a big issue. If you're hesitant on this, you should just buy it - these are great albums and if you like one Lynyrd Skynyrd song then you'll love the rest.

First new music after the crash
This was the first new music after the plane crash. With Ronnie's brother Johnny on vocals. Some real good rock n roll songs on this.I had this on cassette when it came out in 91. I just recently picked it up on cd. Not as good as any of the first 5 albums but I think this is their best with Johnny

THE RETURN
I remember clearly the day that I heard this LPfor the 1st time. 9 o'clock in the morning outside Rock City(the record store that I bought it from) waiting for the storeto open. I grab the record and go straight to home. I tell my motherto not disturb me for the next 45 minutes. I put the needle on the first songSMOKESTACK LIGHTNIN' and I almost jumped to the roof.Skynyrd were back. Every song was a revelation. Ed King's guitarwas singin'. What can I say. 21 years later I still feel the same about the album.Tom Dowd is the producer. It 's a pity that the current version of the banddoes not play any songs from this period.Don't think about it too much. BUY IT.Angelos KaragiannisAthens Greece

GREAT ROCKIN ALBUM
This has to be one of my favourite albums for some time now from start to finish it is a great rockin album perfect for driving or working at home to. I know some old time fans have or will say that it is not as good as the original band stuff but I think it is just as great, sure slightly different but still great, but it was always going to be hard for the band releasing new material and comparisons being made but give it a listen, don't compare and you won't be disappointed and you will find yourself rockin and singing along before you know it.

Skynyrd box set. Fantastic piece to own!!
A Fantastic collection piece for any Skynyrd fan. We often times just here all the Skynyrd hits, but this set gives you the entire catalog which is great. The set is very well made. Nice 180 gram vinyl. Street Survivors, One More For.., and Pronounced are all gatefold lps while the others are single sleeve. They did NOT use the cheapest card stock for the cover either. They are solid. Very solid collection for the price and the 180g vinyl sounds really good. I highly recommend this set!

The good: The 180 gram vinyl is great The album ...
Was totally excited for this when I saw it. When they said "original artwork" I assumed there would be all the original artwork, inserts and labels. Not so.The good:The 180 gram vinyl is greatThe album covers are true to the originalsThe bad (or what I wished they would have done):Would have been good to have the Sounds of the South Label on Pronounced & Second HelpingThe album sleeve on Nuthin' Fancy had no pics like the originalNo insert with concert pics on One More From the RoadThe album sleeve for Street Survivors is one of the inserts and the other insert listing the tour dates is and merch is just missingStill a cool set, but given some of the recent re-releases it could have been a lot more cool. Still a Skynyrd fan to the core and will always love 'em so that probably explains why I am just a bit picky on this box set.

Good solid rock n roll!
As a person who grew up in the late '80s and the '90s, I always heard a lot of old timers say hateful things to the then (and current) line up of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The band being led by Gary Rossington and original vocalist Ronnie's brother Johnny Van Zant have taken a lot of abuse over the years and it has always made me a little hesitant to visit their early reunion material. My first proper taste of Lynyrd Skynyrd was of course their first two albums, must have classics without any debate. That was until Vicious Cycle came out. A hard hitting modern rock album that showed the band living the life and sounding as good as ever. It is clear between the two that Lynyrd Skynyrd have changed over the years and it is interesting to hear how that divide started with the first official reunion album, 1991.1991 is a great release that features a lot of the bands surviving members. Each person in the band brings their all as they play some good solid southern rock music. There are plenty of sick leads, grooving rhythms and heavy beats. The album as a whole is consistently good and really says a lot of the musicians in the band that they can retain that level of quality after all these years of injuries and solo projects.Of course, 1991 does not sound like old school '70s Lynyrd Skynyrd and there I think lies the main issue with this record. People want that kick of nostalgia and an album like this does not do that. This is a band moving on from the past instead of reliving it and is the main reason why I enjoyed it as much as I did. Johnny's lyrics aren't quite as good as his brothers. He seems to lack the subtlety that made Ronnie so popular but he does know how to write a good catchy chorus and can sing just as good as his brother.1991 is not an album that boasts any classic tracks. Those looking for Sweet Home Alabama 2 are not going to find it here. But those who can go without nostalgia will find the band clearly moved on and in doing so, they released a really good album. Much like the majority of the bands post reunion material, I consider it highly underrated and deserves a bit of attention.

Ottimo ritorno in campo e cd consigliatissimo.
