Hill People Gear Kit Bags were born out of the desire to discreetly carry a pistol in a way that doesn't interfere with a full size backpack. Kit Bags are so handy for keeping small items close at hand on the trail (or in the ATV, or in the canoe, or on the stand, etc.) that many folks choose to use them even without a pistol.

Exceptional Kit Bag/Chest Pack, but with some room for improvement.
I admit, I was a skeptic at first. How could a chest pack be convenient and useful? And if it was, did I really want to wear a fanny pack on my chest? The answer to the first question is a resounding "yes." The answer to the second question? It's definitely growing on me.This little kit bag is perfect. I use it for day hikes with the family. It works well in conjuction with a backpack, a back-pack style child carrier, or as a stand-alone bag. I can carry snacks, a Sawyer Products SP131 PointOne Squeeze Water Filter System with 3 Pouches, a small first aid kit, a lighter, phone, compass, and other assorted necessary gear. Oh, and it discreetly carries my Glock 19 in the main compartment. In addition to using as a hiking kit bag, this bag also works brilliantly as a fly fishing chest rig. It's internal pockets accomodate multiple fly boxes, such as the Orvis Tacky Fly Box, 7 X 3 1/2, tippet, leader, nippers, strike indicators, snacks, and other assorted fishing gear. Oh, and again it discretely carries my Glock 19 in the main compartment. In sum, this is an excellent piece of gear with room for three improvements. First, price. Their is no getting around it, it is an expensive little bag. Drop the price to $80 and this makes much more sense. Still, even at full price, I'd buy it again. Second, is the main pistol compartment. There is a thin strip of Velcro running vertically that allows you to secure your pistol via a hook-and-loop holster. I wish this main compartment was fully lined with Velcro, as that would allow a more secure attachment point. I plan on sewing in some additional Velcro panels. Third, and finally, I wish this had some additional Molle-type attachments on the bottom the bag. Hill People Gear's "Heavy Tactical" kit bag has this on the bottom and it would be a useful addition across the line-up.Now, if I can only overcome the mental-image of wearing a fanny-pack on my chest.

Possibles bag meets holster equals match made for the woods
This is the 5th piece of kit that I have purchased from HPG. The Kit Bag is the best thing to happen to carrying a gun in the outdoors ever. It has solved all of my carrying problems. Need a 4inch .44 in bear country but also riding a quad? Going on a 10k run with dogs and a little 9mm? Pushing your kid on a swing in a hippie park? Wearing a kid in a carrier on your back? Doing it all while carrying and want access to your handgun? No problem.

More than just a gun carrier
Love this chest rig. Keeps my firearm secure and has plenty of room for everything you would want quick access to such as GPS, water filter, snacks, etc.

LOVE this kit beg. Nice to have all my necessities at hand while backpacking...including my 4" Taurus 44 mag revolver. It's pricey, but worth every penny!
