Q: does the temperature change from 50F or stay the same?

You can change the temperature. You have to "unlock" the unit by pressing and holding the "lock" button until you see the temperature flashing. Once that happens, you can adjust the temperature. Once you are completed, press and hold the temperature key again.

Q: Can this be built-in or freestanding?

It depends on how you define built in. It was a gift to our kids and they are using it in an enclosed pantry vs out in the open. Works fine. Hope this helps

Doesn't close, causes crazy humidity, labels fall off

I am studying to become a Certified Specialist of Wine. I bought this fridge so I could store wine at a proper temperature and humidity level. I couldn't figure out why my wine labels were falling off. I bought a humidity meter, and the humidity got up to 94% within minutes of putting it in there. I noticed as I was standing above it that the door doesn't close all the way! I've had to tape it shut! I don't know how to go about getting a refund or complaining to Artic King, but this is a disaster. DO NOT BUY!
