Of all Stephen King adaptations this is the best one.
The atmosphere throughout THE STAND is really memorable. You can apply that to IT, SALEM'S LOT, DESPERATION and also SILVER BULLET. THE NIGHT FLIER. THE LANGOLIERS and last but definitely not least A RETURN TO SALEM'S LOT as well. Return is not a King adaptation but rather a sequel in title only to the David Soul Miniseries. It plays out in a similar idea but set in a different universe. The apocalypse setting is always fascinating to me. Ghost towns everywhere. Humanity on the brink of annihilator.I had this on VHS I think I've still got it somewhere in the house in a carrier bag along with some other old VHS tapes. I then got The Stand on DVD a while back. Now I have it on Blu-ray. The story is really entertaining and it never bores me on any of the four episodes. I always keep watching. There are NO irritating characters. Unlike a lot of shows today that create annoying women and infantile men for laughs. That's not funny or entertaining. It's a tale about good vs evil during the end times where a handful of survivors band together on either side building for the final face off. This is one you can always go back to time and time again. I got the book as well it's massive for a paperback. Not started it yet. I will get round to it some day. Look forward to it.The Stand 10/10 or by Amazon ratings 5/5.

THE RAVEN SEE'S ALL ?
Didn't watch this Stephen King min-series when screened on TV, heard good things about it so thought it to be worth a spin. The picture quality on this format is pretty good after some let's say average at times during part one of four. The Theme - GOOD Vs EVILIn a remote U.S military lab, a weaponised Super-Flu strain is accidentally released, the strain quickly takes hold, killing off over 90% of the World's population within weeks....in most cases, once contracted death is quick. However, centred in America, we follow a few small groups of survivors including Stu ( Gary Sinise) Franny (Molly Ringwald) Larry (Adam Storke) Nick (Rob Lowe) Tom (Bill Fagerbakke) and Glen (Ray Walston) who eventually come together and realise they all have the same dream, it's of 108-year-old Mother Abagail Freemantle (Ruby Dee) a psychic, visionary and deeply religious sole living in Hemingford Home, Nebraska, who spends much time sitting on her porch, guitar in hand. Also in the dream, a second character Randall Flagg (Jamey Sheridan) a demonic being who has mysterious ability, the devil himself? The group soon decide that they have to seek out Mother Abagail to listen to the advice she has to offer, hoping they don't also meet Flagg. She tells them to travel to a flu-free zone in Boulder, Colorado, she will travel with them, they are joined by kindly-sole Ralph (Peter Van Nordon) on the journeyWhen in Boulder they soon join-up with a larger group of survivors, Nadine (Laura San Giacomo) who Larry had met on his travels earlier try's to join the inner circle but is turned away, though her story is far from finished. The community try to restore order by getting back to some sort of normality, including appointing leading officials and indeed restoring power. However, advised by Mother Abagail, a group has to try and destroy the evil (Flagg) who has, with many followers set up headquarters in 'Sin City' Las Vagas.A confrontation inevitable, but who will prevail?Overall, well worth a watch, though for me there were a couple of characters that I found o.t.t and irritating, this included the out of control Julie (Shawnee Smith) and the truly mad bomb-expert Rat Man (Rick Aviles) however the latter will redeem himself in the tale (sort-of)Being one of Stephen King's longest written horror tales way back in the 70s, worthy of a glance.

Great Quality Reproduction of an Old Favourite
When it comes to Stephen King mini series, there are only two for me that I am happy to watch again and again despite their age, The Stand is one, and Salem's Lot is the other.I am not going to tell you the story beyond the fact that it is another (probably one of the earliest) movie about man's fooling around with viruses, and how it wipes out the population; there are plenty of places you can find out more.I already had The Stand on DVD, but it required swapping discs midway through binge watching, and also on a 4K TV, the upscaling from a DVD leaves a bit of pixilation, the Blu-ray doesn't.When you consider the age of this movie, the reproduction to Blu-ray was superb, leaving a lovely clear picture with better colour than my old DVD, the sound through a sound bar was good too.The film is still broken into its four episodes, but you can watch them consecutively without having to swap discs.

Great purchase
Whats with all the nay saying this disc looks great on a large screen, after all it was made for the tv the sound might not leap out at you from seven speakers what what the hell! its a great film and Steven the man king is also in it what more could you ask for.Just one tiny question, why is it that when Frans father dies she puts a christian cross on his grave ?in the version i had seen before she has a Jewish prayer that she says over the grave and her house is full of Jewish objects, did they make one version for the non Jews and one for the Jewish community anyway the film is great watch it and enjoy pure Steven King.

Great Restoration
This mini-series, way back when, was an amazing experience. Still to this day I think its a modern day Lord Of The Rings type adventure with PLAGUE involved. Brilliant to watch and horrible when we lose characters we grow to love. Stephen King has had some totally amazing books turned into movies and the book is FAB But what a compliment to the book this was. AND NOW IN BLURAY with VFX which are AMAZING!! Bravo on the restoration... THANKS AMAZON and PARAMOUNT

engaging film. even though Stephen King is a devout atheist according to himself
This is such an amazing work. Fortunately King wrote the screenplay for this one. No one else could have done this as much justice with a different screenwriter. The ultimate stand between good and evil, kind of what America is experiencing presently under the evil that has taken over our government. Nonetheless, a great film and book.

Good Series
This Series (The Stand) based on the Stephen King book was excellent. I did not watch the second (remake) because the first one was perfect! Never understood why they do remakes 🤷🏻♀️ But I digress, I could not find it anywhere on Apple/ Amazon etc so I bought the blue ray DVD to have! Thank you Seller!
