Update I am now a happy camper at Amazon & DBROTH store is great!
I ordered this PA speaker because they said it had bluetooth. Most of the reviews said that the bluetooth worked great. However, I could not get the bluetooth to work on the item I purchased so I am sending it back. I tried to contact the manufacturer with no response. Evidently they just want to sell their junk and don't want to support it. I actually wanted to exchange it but I could not find a way to do that. It does sound pretty good for what it is. Some reviews said it didn't have enough definition but it only has bass and treble EQ so what did they expect? It is LOUD though and at least the PA part of it works great. I have to update this review in all fairness to the vendor and the manufacturer. Also to anyone who may have the same problem I had experienced. I was sharing with my Barber about my experience with this LyxPro SPA-8 Power PA, and he said he has a powered PA also with bluetooth. He said that he has trouble connecting his bluetooth also due to interference from other wifi systems in his house! So I thought about it and decided to try to get away from my wireless systems in my house my wireless router and my wireless phone system which operates at 2.4ghz. I took the speaker out into my backyard and plugged it in to an outdoor outlet. Then I turned on my bluetooth on my smart phone and turned on the PA speaker and voila it worked! So I am a happy camper now and have cancelled my return. BTW I cranked the volume up half way and it filled my backyard with sound! I believe it truly is a 100 watt amp! UPDATE: I am still having issues with the bluetooth on this item. It is not dependable sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesn't. I was going to return it for another one but I found out that I would have to pay $10.00 more for another one. So I have decided to keep this one. So I change my review to 3 stars if bluetooth is not important to you then this is a good speaker. The EQ is not really that great but you know the saying "you get what you pay for". So all in all it is an OK product for the money there is another one out there called Rockville that looks exactly like this one and it is a lot cheaper on ebay but I think I will just keep this one it works for me for now... NOTE: UPDATE ON PRODUCT REVIEW: 01/22/2017 After complaining to DBROTH the company which this item came from, I was contacted by their Customer Support person, Bianca. After going back and forth a few times by email explaining what was wrong with the product, Bianca asked if I would like to replace the item for a new one free of charge! So I said yes that would be great. So she sent me a prepaid postage return label and I packed up the defective product and shipped it back. And this past Saturday, 1/21/2017, I got the new replacement product. I unpacked it and checked out the bluetooth feature on a few of my devices, and it worked on every one of them!! So I am very pleased with the product and the Customer Service at DBROTH store! They are very easy to do business with and the LyxPro SPA-8 is a very good speaker for a novice beginner like me and it is loud enough to fill my back yard with sound and cause complaints from my neighbors lol. I am now a happy camper at Amazon!

Very impressed with this PA!
I bought this to use as a speaker hooked up to my security camera software, so I can talk to anyone outside of my house and it works awesome for that. With the volume only up half way, you can easily hear me talking 100 ft away from the speaker. My voice audio is crystal clear with no static or background buzzing when I'm not talking (another speaker I tried had a constant buzz that was very annoying, if I had the volume up enough to be heard properly when I was talking). I also intend on using the Bluetooth to play music when I'm outside working. One thing to note, the instructions say to connect via Bluetooth you're supposed to long press the mode button and the display will say "blue"..... wrong.... you can long press that button all day long and nothing happens.... you have to press the mode button twice quickly to enter the Bluetooth discovery mode, so you can pair it with your phone, tablet or computer.... and it never says "blue", but after you double press the mode button, you get flashing red dashes across the screen and a flashing red bluetooth symbol. Once you have successfully paired, the dashes and the symbol stay lite solid. This seems to be a blatant error in their documentation and they should correct this! But once paired, my music sounds great on this speaker and even at max volume it's very clear. I have tried many expensive bluetooth speakers for outdoor use before and seems none I have ever tried have much volume and when you do crank them up to max, things sound bad.... but this little speaker cranks it out plenty loud to be heard over a few hundred feet range and it doesn't get distorted. This is probably the best outdoor buletooth speaker I have ever tried.... and it's less expensive than several of the other high end outdoor bluetooth speakers I have tried. I was going to be satisfied with this PA system if it simply worked good for my voice communications through my camera system software, but the fact it turns out to be an awesome bluetooth outdoor speaker for music as well, is a very pleasant surprise! And no, this speaker is not water proof for full outdoor, in the rain operation, but I have it under an area where it's covered from direct rain, and taped a plastic sheet across the back of it where all the plugs and controls are, so no blowing rain will get into connections. I don't intend on moving it around or changing the settings, as it's primary use is for my security camera communications, so having it under the overhang and adding the plastic to the back will work great to insure it doesn't get water in it. After I did the initial volume set up and bluetooth pairing, I won't have to have access to the back any more. If the thing holds up long term, I will be completely satisfied with this purchase... even if I was cussing out the manufacturer for a bit when it appeared the bluetooth wasn't working.... and then cussed them out a little more when I saw their directions were just completely wrong... lol

Works well for guitar practice and vocals.
I am not going to be using this for bluetooth and it is not the battery powered model. I use this strictly for guitar and vocals with a harmonizer. I bought this to solve the problem of having to move all my equipment into the warm living room to practice and then breaking it back down to move it back to the cold garage. I can heat and air condition my garage but it takes awhile to get it warm in the winter and by that time I'm out of the mood to practice or play. I like to keep my guitars on the stand at the ready in the living room, not in their cases as I should. The biggest issue to solve is I use a harmonizer (TC Helicon) when singing and a guitar. In the garage I have a mixer and an acoustic amp and there are no issues for setup. But, I can't have all the patch cords and mixer in the living room and the acoustic amp is too big to leave set up along with compression pedal, volume pedal, etc. It took all the joy of playing and practicing out of me. Another issue is that the guitar out from the harmonizer is XLR but I'd need it to be a 1/4" jack for the PA or the PA would need another XLR input. If it was a 1/4" out of the harmonizer, I could use the TC Hellicon effects for the guitar. So, what I do with this is sparse and its size is small enough to slide underneath an accent chair with the harmonizer and volume pedal when not in use. Very neat and easy, out of sight when finished and I don't have to disconnect anything. I had to figure out the ins and outs because its different when not using a mixer. So, my guitar connects to a volume pedal, then to a splitter to provide a signal to the harmonizer (required) and a direct connection from the split to the PA line jack -- no mixer. The mic is on a boom from the music stand and folds up when not in use and music stand is the only thing I move out if company comes etc. The mic (XLR) goes to the harmonizer and the out from the harmonizer (XLR) goes to the PA, again, no mixer. My acoustic guitar has an onboard equalizer, no in line effects. I'd like to have my compressor but I'm determined to keep this a minimal setup easily hidden when finished playing. So my setup is specific to my needs and I understand this won't apply to many reading this, but for those who like to play guitar and sing, this works pretty well at a decent price point. The PA came with a remote for the built in player (SD card or input RCA etc.) I have no use for this but it all operates as expected. DJs would love this but probably should get the 10" model to be more versatile for spaces and larger rooms. This 8" model is more than adequate for the largest of rooms in a normal house and handles guitar and voice easily with good clarity. I have about 20 hours on this and there's no heat issues. I set the levels in the rear of the PA and forget it. The volume pedal for the guitar is mandatory for adjustments and the harmonizer has level settings and effects for voice. There's a lot of headroom left if needed. The compressor pedal could make it a slicker setup for sound, but not for out of sight storage in my case. This same setup could easily be used for small coffee house, bookstore, retirement facility, nursing home, small church/chapel settings. I don't do that but I'd have faith in this setup and maybe take the compressor and a patch cord along in my pocket. A very portable, easy to carry powered speaker but if I did gig like this a lot, I'd get the 10" model for possible larger venues like a bar or outside patio settings without a built in sound system. Buskers could use the 8" battery model but again, go with the 10" or more as I'm not sure how loud you might require outside or in subways etc. - Your call -- I can only say that the 8" is plenty in the house/garage and my wife gets a headache from volume and stress of repeating same song or initial sound leveling when required. So I've practically set it up mostly for the harmonizer and the volume on the guitar is almost nothing which is fine since there are no effects. Would a small acoustic amp solve my problems better - nope. Exceptions would be if it had on board effects and if it had enough watts to make a difference. Usually those amps with a small enough profile to fit under the chair have small speakers and the voice on anything less than an 8" speaker is not enjoyable for me as it starts to sound "tinny" or small". My acoustic amp in the garage is large profile with two 6" speakers (30amp) and it barely is acceptable for vocal. A single 8" handles bass notes on the guitar better. Neither would be good enough for acoustic bass except for practice imho. If you have a need for an application such as this, this is a great little speaker for the price. Because it handles the harmonizer and voice , it would work pretty well for karaoke but not for "professional" karaoke contests etc. DJs should have at least two of these, but should be looking at the 10" model. Announcer at a business function/picnic etc. would find this acceptable but if they wanted if for music during the function, then again, the 10" model (even two speakers) would be better recommended. Sound for the patio and pool would be perfect with bluetooth applications but I have not determined the max distance. This 8" is very light and portable. Its so useful and versatile I don't know why anybody could not find a use for this or at the very least have one on standby in their closet.

We hear you loud and clear
I bought this mainly for karaoke live playback use but quickly found I had gotten much more value than I paid for. I connected this to a mixer via the xlr line input on the LyxPro. The sound emanating from this small thing is incredible. Incredibly loud and incredibly clear. I was hearing subtle details in my mp3's that I had never heard before. The clarity of voices is outstanding in video playback. You know how you watch a movie and even with those fancy stereo speakers on either side you still can't hear dialogue that well? This thing is amazing in my setup as the midrange speaker for movies. The Bluetooth feature has yet to cut out on me as long as I'm in the same room within 30feet unobstructed view of the speaker. The reviews that claim it cuts out must not understand Bluetooth isn't WiFi and doesn't do well traveling through walls or maintaining a stable signal past 50feet. I love how there are plenty of inputs for connecting anything. The mix out output allowed me to connect a subwoofer and utilize Bluetooth to play music with the crystal clear highs of the LyxPro and the deep bass from the sub as soon as I walk into the house. Without a sub, the bass from the 8inch woofer is only adequate. However, this thing is loud enough to cause ear ringing, from the screeching mids and highs! Fantastic for a house. One is really enough for a 20-30 person party paired with a strong subwoofer. All in all, at only $100 each you can buy two of these for an excellent 2.1 channel bargain movie setup. The quality is the best I've ever heard and live vocals sound transparent and clear through it. Sound really wants to go far and there's zero distortion at ear ringing levels. I don't think I could get it to distort if I tried. It loves loud! As far as I'm concerned, why pay triple or even more for a JBL or Mackie high brand PA speaker when this thing is all you'll ever need? EDIT: I've since bought another one and am using it with the original for a stereo 2.1 setup in my home basement. Excellent value for the money. However, the new unit I bought was used, and now i understand why. It makes a humming noise that is quite noticeable even at 30 feet away (in quiet conditions). This is a sign of a quality control issue but I will not be detracting a star for this. I feel that it is "normal" enough of a hum that only the original buyer can accurately tell that the PA audio equipment is buzzing. Anyone else will either not be focused on it and thus won't notice it's there (unless they get within 10 feet of it) or will chalk the hum up to the HVAC or something else in the building. These are PA speakers. They shouldn't be used in near field situations anyway. Raising the volume does not affect the loudness of the hum so that is good. If you're outside, you won't notice it at all. And in a crowded venue, they won't notice it either.

You Get What You Pay For!
Read Full Product Review, I Will Be Answering Most Questions And Concerns I Could Not Find Anywhere! So For Starters, I Am Not A Pro DJ , and I don't own DJ equipment or anything but I do like to have a lot of party's So It would not be cheep if I had to hire a DJ to come play basic music that I have on my phone , I feel like that's just a waste so I looked into getting a DJ system , little did I know, that was also not economically Okay either! So after like days of research, I came across This speaker option and it seemed like a pretty amazing deal! But I had never bought a speaker or anything like that over $100! So I was so scared to get some cheep rip off . The reviews kinda helped but still wasn't so sure. at the end I ended up going for it . I trusted my instincts and bought a pair to daisy chain them. Okay little did I know that they would actually work and sound good , but the sound quality is pretty damn impressive!! I just plugged in one speaker and it trembled the whole entire house when i was testing it! With just one speaker! I can already imagine how loud 2 will sound! I am happy with them, the only downfall I would say is , considering the fact that I got the 8 inch version, the bass is very entry Level. Meaning it not the best , actually it's really nothing at all when you are blasting it. You can't really feel the bass at all. But I can't lower the star rating cause I knew the bass would not be good on a 8 inch speaker so, I know what I was getting! I am though , gonna buy probably at lease another 2 of these speaker but probably a bigger version like 10 or 12. Obviously the 15 inch would be the one to get but I'm just gonna be using these for small outdoor house party's. Nothing to big. My first party coming up is next week and I am going to put them to run for he first time and hopefully everything goes well and runs smooth with these 2! Over all, I do recommend these speakers , the 8 inch version, probably to just ordinary people , not like pro DJ's or beginners. This is over all a cool little speaker to just have at small gatherings/ get together. I have yet to fully test them but hopefully I'll get the most bang for my buck! Just remember, The Bass is not the best! If you are looking for something with the most bass, this will not be for you! Try getting a bigger version like the 12 or 15 inch one! Not 8!

Bad Bluetooth audio quality.
I’m using my iPhone to connect Bluetooth but it’s very bad audio quality, even if my phone is right next to the speaker, no other apps are open except Apple Music. Tried to disconnect BT or even “For this Device” but it’s still won’t resolve it. Won’t recommend it!

Good for certain uses
This review is for the SPA-10 (10" woofer; AC-only power). I recommended one of these several years ago for use at company meetings with about 50 attendees. It has worked just fine in that application. Recently, I wanted a speaker to take into the yard for background music. My small battery-powered Bluetooth speakers just don't have enough oomph, so I bought an SPA-10. For me, the MP3 player is the most important feature. I figured that it'd be easier (and more reliable) than pairing the speaker with my phone or one of my Bluetooth-capable audio players. The sound quality and volume are the subject of many negative reviews, I've noticed. I think it's important to have reasonable expectations. The SPA-10 has a maximum volume of about 95 dB; this is in the product spec. I confirmed this: at full volume on the MP3 player and measuring the volume a few feet from the front of the speaker, I was seeing average volumes in the mid-90s while the speaker's clip LED was just barely flickering. Again, qualifiers are important: this was with tone controls flat and with a program source known to peak at 0 dB with roughly a 10 dB peak-to-average ratio. (Think: jazz.) If you try the same experiment with MP3 that are brickwall limited (peaks at 0 dB with an almost nonexistent peak-to-average ratio; think modern rock and pop), you'll have to reduce the volume to avoid clipping. So... hold that 95 dB max volume in mind and take a look at the sensitivity figure published by the manufacturer. It's beyond the scope of a review to get into the underlying analysis, but this speaker clearly does not use a 100-watt amplifier. I'd bet that the rated continuous output is somewhere in the range of 15 to 25 watts. To be fair, everyone in the audio industry multiplies their continuous-power rating by a factor of four or so. (Those 1,000-watt powered speakers are, like the LyxPro SPA-10, rated for *peak* power. The usual way to confirm estimated power is to look at the rated power *input* and assume an efficiency based upon the amplifier tech (in the case of a class D amp, probably near 80%). Unfortunately, the input power draw is not disclosed by the manufacturer, eithr in the minimal manual or on the back panel of the unit. This speaker would keep up with a small jazz ensemble. A rock band: not a chance. The SPA-10 would be hopelessly overpowered by a typical rock drummer or a small tube-powered guitar amp. Likewise, if you like heavy bass at chest-thumping volumes, look eleswhere. Solid bass uses a lot of power. The EQ controls are quite effective. Small amounts of bass and treble boost help to open up the sound at lower volumes. Just be aware that you won't be able to play the SPA-10 at full volume *and* boost the bass; the amplifier simply won't keep up. BTW, on the unit I received, both EQ controls are labelled "Treble". (The lower Treble control should have been labelled "Bass".) The player module is advertised to handle MP3 and WMA playback as well as Bluetooth streaming. I found that the Bluetooth receiver has a limited range; I honestly wouldn't depend upon it unless I was going to leave the player within a couple feet of the speaker. MP3s play just fine. I have about 1,000 MP3s on an SD card with no folders (directories). The player simply runs through the files in a fixed order (I'm not certain whether the player sorts by name or just reads the directory in the order it was written); I have not been able to find an option to do shuffle play. My SPA-10 came with a remote control. This is, physically, the same kind of tiny 21-button remote that you see with a lot of decorative LED lights, but with different labels on the buttons. The remote is actually too small to be comfortably usable, and it doesn't have much range. The speaker's IR sensor for the remote is located behind the perforated metal speaker grill, right at the very top. The remote is the only way to directly select a track, and you must know the number of track you want. The player displays a 4-digit track number during selection; unfortunately the display and the remote sensor are on opposite faces of the cabinet. The unit I received also has an FM tuner. It works fine for me. Overall, this is a fine unit so long as you understand its limitations. If what you really need is a prosumer-grade powered speaker, the SPA-10 isn't going to magically save you the $500 cost difference. For background music or for speaking to a small audience, the SPA-10 is fine.

Great very clear sounding speakers!
I didn't purchase my SPA-8Bat from Amazon but I did purchase my non battery unit here. But units are great especially for the price. I have both the 8 inch Battery and non battery units. I wanted at least one unit that could be used in case I didn't have power. The only drawback I have seen is not so much base of course I kinda expected that from a 8 inch woofer. So I have both units on stands and teamed up with a 10 inch powered subwoofer. This works great for showing movies outside with my projecter. It also is great for music because I do a few Christian DJ gigs for churchs, parties, outdoor worship and weddings. Several people talked about how the battery didn't last. I don't have that issue but I mostly use it plugged in. I realize it wouldn't be as convenient but you do have the option to hook it up to an external battery. Some might want to check into that. I also find the mixing controls, bluetooth connection and other connections to be very useful. Several other speakers don't have this.
