Perfect replacement
I needed a replacement for an old brass valve. This one was great, especially since the discharge is directly down, keeping the spray contained.

So far, works better than the brass!
Purchased for our automatic livestock waterers after a constant battle with the brass ones for a few years. You'd think the brass would be better, right? Not so much. They develop buildup much faster and prevent the valve from shutting off completely... which is a bummer in the summer but an absolute nightmare in the winter. We're still waiting to see how long the plastic ones hold up but unless they fail pretty soon I recommend these over the brass any day... plus, cheaper? Too good to be true.

Simple and reliable
Using this to top off my Koi pond. Algae can grow and sometimes it seems to be prevented from full closure by the sludge and remains partially open causing my well pump to continue to run. Not sure this is a major fault with the unit or more likely a fault with my environment.

Overflow Control
In my indoor Aquaponics setup, I needed too keep water flowing from the glass fish tank too the sump tank and wanted too make sure neither over flowed. I use one of these in each too keep things balanced.

Excellent High-Flow Valve
This was the solution for my high-flow reservoir top-off. Very satisfied with theKerick valve

They call this a float valve. It's part of a float valve.
I don't like it. First of all it does not come with all the parts. It's a valve, without a float. Not a "float valve". You need to buy the rod and the float, both sold separately. Anyway, if for whatever reason the fluid level in your tank goes a few inches "too high", the wing nut on this valve with your precious perfect level will slip out of your setting, bending the entire mechanism backwards. In other words, if you plan to use this in a sump that you need to keep a level on, but at times may be completely overfull, such as when used in a sump, you might want to keep moving and find another float valve. Like me. I've also used the Kent Float Valve, and that invention will safely survive being submerged, so I assumed all float valves could survive that, but was mistaken. As I write this, my Kerick is holding a level nearly a foot above where I expected it would, since after being submerged it won't hold a normal level anymore. It's also been photographed upside down in this listing, though I would not expect a photographer to also be a plumber and even know what they were shooting or how it should be oriented, so whatever. The photo has not influenced my 2 stars, if I took a mark for that, then I would have cast 1 star. For my vote, I gave one of the two stars for Kerick accomplishing a somewhat usable device, and the second star for having a deep thread to pass a thick tank wall. That's something that many other similarly marketed devices lack. I think that a wing nut being needed as the level adjustment was a bad idea. When faced with more liquid than it's set for, the spud/plunger device fails, as does the wing nut elbow. For the record, I used the poly sphere. As a last resort, I'm going to try the polyethylene rectangle and see how much force it has when submerged, and see how it behaves. I'll buy a new one of these valves, couple it to the smaller float, and give it another go. Worth trying twice before I move on for another solution. Mine is shot from being submerged (additional fluid was introduced to the tank after the valve reached it's shut-off point, causing the float to float too high, breaking all the moving parts on this valve) so be careful and if that's possible in your project, find another valve or if you insist to try this one, then try this with the rectangle white float, not the round black one.If that setup works for my needs, I'll consider revising my review. Had I realized there was a smaller float when I was buying those three separate items I would have gotten it but I had no clue. I actually had to use a 4th item, a bulkhead for this to screw into (I tossed the gasket and lock nut that this came with and just screwed this into a bulkhead, allowing me to use it in an even thicker wall than this will safely fit on it's own. The bulkhead that is built into this valve leaves a lot to be desired. If I could leave 1.5 stars I would.

A good choice
I bought this to maintain the level in my hydroponic system reservoir. It works perfectly I have a gravity feed and the large orifice lets in plenty of nurturant solution. installation was easy and the valve shuts off tite.

Works as I hoped and solved my issue
Added this product to a pond filling system and it seemed to solve the issue with the original float valve. I had to purchase a float bulb and arm as well. Arrived quickly and in good condition.

Over flow stress free
Well this little device worked axacly as expectedI use it to control the level of water in my tote for the cottage. Iliminates constant pump usage adjust valve for the amount of water to be used before pump kicks on to replenish!!
