Must have for your boxes
This product serves its purpose well and it is very easy to control the knife as you use it. It will be good for crafts.I got this for the purpose of breaking down large amounts of boxes, and initially I thought it was both slower and producing more "dust" than an ordinary box cutter. The latter is still true, but after comparing and contrasting both the Canary cutter wins. They are both about just as wieldy to use, but Canary's cuts through tape with less issue, and can cut through several layers of cardboard at the same time. You can also be firmer with it than a box cutter since there is less risk of accidentally harming yourself on its edge. A must get!

Best tool to break down boxes!
I was using a serrated steak knife to break down boxes because it is safer than a box knife and I think easier to use for that purpose. It worked very well and it was fast. Then I started doing research to find something even better. A lot of people like the Kershaw Leek which lists for over $100 and it is definitely not as safe as a steak knife. The I came across the Canary and I have always been impressed with the Japanese when it comes to knives (and many other products) .For $8 it was worth a shot. It exceeded my expectations and I just ordered another one to keep in my kitchen. It is faster and easier than the steak knife and very safe. It is thin and teflon coated so out slides in underneath a box flap and cuts the tape easily, then I plunge cut the tape the length of the box and make a turn when I get to the end without stopping to cut underneath the flap on one side, and because the knife is double sided I can move it back the other way and cut the tape on the other flap with out turning the knife around. This process is so fast and smooth it blows away the steak knife! If the box is really big then I cut the cardboard up in smaller pieces. I was surprised how well the Canary works for this, way better than expected. You can just pull it through the cardboard and it will cut it but it works better if you saw back and forth. Other reviews say it cuts cardboard like butter and that is a bit of an exaggeration but it does an excellent job.

I LOVE this thing!
I was going to go cheap and just buy a regular razor blade box cutter but after I saw this, I was like OK let me go ahead and spend four times the price because it’s supposedly a tool that is strictly designed for cardboard boxes. Let me tell you. This knife is AWESOME. Seriously, I cut through cardboard, seriously like butter it’s awesome and I’m not afraid to hurt myself. Trust me. It is plenty sharp. You can actually cut yourself if you really want to, but it requires actual effort. There are too many times when I will use a traditional razor box cutter, and in the motion of, the direction I’m cutting I nick myself this eliminates that ever from happening. The only thing I wish they had was proper sheath not the little plastic that came with it.

I'm using this over my sawzall in many cases.
With all the cardboard we get to deal with these days, I was on the razor train like everybody else. Then I broke down and bought a mini sawzall. Does a fabulous job for those large furniture boxes in terms of saving time and energy and trying to struggle with a razor blade. That said the cardboard can be a little gangly and all over the place since I'm not working on a workbench of any kind. So when I saw this little canary knife I thought too good to be true.Man was that wrong. This thing's amazing there are times when I use it that it's faster than this sawzall and it cuts the tape where the sawzall doesn't. Surprisingly the sawzall just stops cutting when it gets to the tape. So you end up pulling and sucking and jiving and next thing you know frustration sets in and I'll either break something or cut myself. Not only is this little gizmo effective 1,000% after using it a while it's like handling worry beads or a One of those little fidget spinny things that you can't stop playing with once you pick it up.I don't know what wizard came up with this but he or she is qualified to work at Tesla in their design department 🤭.I'm going to go order a handful of stocking stuffers. I think everybody I know should have one of these in their life.

Awesome to find a safer version of something that actually works better!
I shred my clean cardboard for composting so I do a lot of cutting to fit the width of the shredder. This knife is GREAT at what it does. Cuts well "against the grain" of the corrugation too. The cutting edge poses an extremely low risk of accidental cutting but I would still not leave it unattended with children around out of an abundance of caution. Much preferred to the wandering razor knives I was using.

Small, lightweight, flimsy, but also cheap and effective!
This knife/saw is quite small and thin. The handle is plastic, but rigid ... it can probably be snapped. The blade is serrated ... safer than a naked razor. More effective vs cardboard than say .. your flesh.I got this to try becuase I cut cardboard frequently and decided it was dumb to be dulling my X•acto blades on cardboard. This seems to be a great replacement specifc to the task, while also being cheap enopugh to replace as needed. Recommended for any shipping dept!
