Save yourself some $$$...
...if you can wait for the products to get to you from Amazon, you can do just as good a job defeating bed bugs as the professionals will - probably better, because you have a more personal interest. First of all, never buy pillows or mattresses without buying bed bug-proof pillow and mattress covers from Target (they might be available elsewhere, but I found them at Target). If you don't use these covers and you get bed bugs, your mattresses and pillows are pretty well shot. We didn't and we learned the hard way. When we got bed bugs, we had to throw them in the dumpster and buy news ones. Covers are critical. Don't spend big $$$ on mattresses and pillows without buying protective covers for them. If you do get bed bugs, three products will wipe them out. Put Climbup Insect Interceptors under each bed post. If you have supports under your mattress, put one under each support, too. The Interceptors come in different sizes. Fill the trough of the Interceptors with Diatomaceous Earth. Diatomaceous Earth is harmless to humans, but rips bed bugs and other insects to shreds. Also, make sure your bed is not touching the wall. Sprayaway Bed Bugs is very effective for spraying around your house or apartment. You can use it to spray the perimeter and anywhere else - it doesn't stain or harm walls, woodwork, carpeting, furniture, etc. Once I used these products, it not only killed the bed bugs, it killed the eggs and hatching bed bugs. Bed bugs are masters at hiding, so you have to seek them out. Spray anywhere there are cracks and other hiding places, including any spaces where your bed parts fit together - you might have to take your bed apart to get to these areas. Bed bugs like to hide behind pictures on the wall, too. If there's any space between your bathroom mirror and the wall, they'll hide in there, too, and lay eggs. I sprayed the entire apartment - anywhere there could be bed bugs hiding, then vacuumed everywhere about a week later - especially between the carpet and woodwork. Then I sprayed everything again. That did the job. Bed bugs are nasty. They suck your blood at night and then s*** your blood all over the place. If you see black spots all over your mattress, bed lines, curtains, windows, etc, that's a sure sign you've got bed bugs. I don't have sensitive skin, but my wife does. They left red welts all over her neck and body. We don't know where they came from, but they can come into your place lots of ways - luggage, parcels, groceries, and other stuff that you buy. We live near the bed bug capital of the U.S. - Cincinnati, Ohio. Bed bugs are a big problem in movie theatres, college campuses, stores - you name it. It's something you think will never happen to you until you discover your house or apartment has been infested. Then you have to go to war with them. You can call the professionals or fight them yourself with these products. We did both. Between that and all the stuff we had to throw out, bed bugs must have cost me about $4,000.00 - but it would have been much less if we had known about the mattress and pillow covers.

I have an abnormal disliking for pretty much any bug and was horrified to find out ...
A long story but worth the read if you are in need of knowing you are not alone in sharing your house with these horrific bugs, I have an abnormal disliking for pretty much any bug and was horrified to find out we were possibly infested with (of all things) bed bugs. I can confirm that the cleanliness of one's house has NOTHING to do with getting these horrible creatures. In our case, we found out that my step-son visited some friends some time ago and unknowingly brought some back with him. As is usually the case, we weren't aware they were here until they had spread throughout the house. I quickly learned that they aren't at all intimidated by humans and will feed any time of the day, not just at night. When we first noticed "them" (not knowing what they were), they would crawl on us like a pet, showing no concern that we saw them. It REALLY freaked me out once we found out what they were and, even worse, how hard it was to get rid of them. (I noticed that they seemed to love everyone else's blood more than mine. I am on a high dosage of medication due to physical injuries so I can only hope those that DID bite me died of an overdose - LOL!) My husband found one nest on the bed-skirt between the mattress and the box-spring and "went on a killing spree". We kept checking the area and none had returned but everyone was still getting bitten. He later found that they had nested in both the bed-frame (made of Wrought Iron) as well as the comforter of our King-sized bed! (God only knows how many were there and I really don't WANT to know that information.) We immediately discarded the comforter (and won't likely be using another one for a while). Although I probably over-reacted a bit, the entire bed (frame and all) went out the door and we replaced them with a new mattress and box-spring as well as a new bed frame. We put the protective covers on the new mattress set and have no intention of attaching a head-board or foot-board at this time so as to minimize their ability to nest in the bedding again...then we treated the house and bought the Interceptor traps. Knowing that there would be no chance of the new bedding being contaminated, we waited to see how many got trapped trying to climb into our bed. The interceptors have been a great blessing to me because we have found no bugs trapped in them, meaning there are no bugs climbing into our bed during the night. Although treatment is not a "once and done" process, I now have the peace of mind knowing that no bugs can get on our bed as long as nothing is touching the floor. As I said, I hate bugs and will continue treating for a long time to come but I can sleep better knowing that there are no bed bugs feeding on us while we sleep.

These work, and not just for bed bugs!
I bought these for my roommate and I after pest control came and sprayed our apartment. I wanted a way to keep track of whether or not we were getting rid of them. (Having someone come spray probably is cheaper in the long run, if there's someone in your area who knows what they're doing. I live in an area with lots of migrant workers so bed bugs are problem around here, which luckily means we have a company that knows how to handle them). Our combination of spraying and vacuuming worked because I only ever caught one bed bug right after they sprayed. (Another tip: after you wash and dry all your clothing/bedding LEAVE IT SEALED UP SO THE BUGS CANT GET TO IT pest control told us to do this for 4 weeks. It's not fun or easy but it was worth it). These won't work if you move out of your bed. In fact, pest control strictly told us not to do that because that just spreads the bugs around. They'll hunt you down. Don't do that to yourself. We caught lots of earwigs with these though. Talk about a nasty looking bug. So I definitely plan on leaving these on my bed. Not only because I live in an apartment where the bed bugs could come back at any time, but also to keep all the other creepy crawlies out of my bed.

Helllllz yeah it works
To be cleared this is NOT designed to eliminate a BB infestation. It is designed to intercept and trap BBs that are enroute to crawl up from the floor to your body via the bed posts. If you have a big fat wooden head board also touching the ground we DUHHH they will just crawl up the head board to you. Remove the headboard and all things touching the floor or wall so the only route is up the legs. When the smoke cleared we had 2 dead bugs in the traps. We had to buy 5 because the queen has a middle 5th leg in the center. Use this while you are using Damcules Earth DE power heavily peppered on the floors, Ortho Bed Bug spray (one of few sprays for BBs that work) all over the mattress and places, and BB proof matress and box spring covers rated for bed bugs. I also took vasiline and coated the legs of the bed too. THICKLY! If any got past the trap (and I did not see any) but if they did they died a sticky death in the vasiline. :D Also dry clothes in HOT dryer for 20 minutes. A solution bottle of 90% alcohol and water is a great instant killer of eggs and BBs on contact. Make sure it is 90% or more. The Ortho spray does too, and they are not resistant to it like most others. PLUS it leases residual killing power! Plus I heavily bombed the entire place weekly, for a month, with bed bug bombs in the blueish box because BB egg cycles are around every 7 days or to hatch. The one with the growth stunt ingredient is an awesome bomb. We went from seeing 7 bugs a night to zero in a month.

Before Hiring Expensive Exterminator
I stayed at a hotel and noticed some welts on my body for several days upon returning home. I panicked, vacuumed room, mattress, box spring and everything in sight. Washed everything and purchased a spray manufactured to eliminate bedbugs. Called an exterminator who used dogs to sniff out the bugs and was told to wait a month as my use of spray, which the exterminator said was toxic and caused liver damage and also interfered with the dog's sense of smell. Incidentally, luckily the weather was warm and my windows were opened wide when I sprayed as I sprayed so much I could literally taste it in my throat. I then purchased the bed bug trap to wait out the month and hopefully keep the little devils out of my bed while waiting for the exterminator. Happily I was not bitten further and no bed bugs were caught in the trap. I can only conclude that I killed them with the spray or collected them in my vacuum, from which I sealed the bag and threw it away each time I vacuumed. So, I really don't know if the bed bug trap would have trapped the little creatures. I assume it would have and it saved me the price of an exterminator, I was quoted $2500, and I have not been bitten since.

Traps those nasty little bugs!
After discovering we had beg bugs, we immediately started to order everything we could to get rid of those little pests. We fogged our house, bagged all our clothes and fabric and bedding and our son's toys, we ripped up and threw away all the carpets and rugs, ordered laundry treatment and dryer sheets for bed bugs, got diatomaceous earth, ordered protectors for the mattress and pillows, and ordered these floor furniture interceptors. I was worried they wouldn't work with the wheels on our bed frame, but these interceptors were a lot bigger than I expected so they fix perfectly! We sprinkled a little diatomaceous earth in the bottom of them and the next morning, there were so many of them caught in there! It was so disgusting and upsetting, but also it made me feel better that these worked and we're going to help with our infestation. We have been fighting them for a few months, and we haven't seen a live one or found any new bites for a few weeks so I am really praying they are all gone now. My only complaint about these are that I wish they had a box or paper with instructions, because I almost ripped off the tape around the sides of these because I didn't realize they are meant to be there so the bed bugs can grip it and fall into it. I'm glad my boyfriend stopped me from pulling off the tape.

Inceptors Do Work in Combo with Other Treatment Products
Really works! Family was caught pretty of guard when we got an blindsided with bed bugs. We had no idea had it got in our house had been in the same furniture and mattress for at least 6 years and had been in our new home the last 3 years and never had a problem. Believe it either came from a friend or hotel we'd recently stayed in St.Louis or husband got it from work. Either way I wouldn't wish bed bugs on my WORST enemy! So after throwing out our entire mattress and box spring, several clothes, blankets, and living out of trash bags we purchased these Inceptors. Great product but should not be the only device to get rid of bed bugs. A really good website resource for bed bugs and do it yourself is on bedbugsupply.com. These Inceptors can also be purchased in larger bulk with free shipping. Had I known I would not ordered directly through Amazon but bedbugsupply.com. Do-It-Yourself treatment for bed bugs is possible, following all the steps from bedbugsupply.com which includes these Inceptors we haven't had any bites or seen any bugs in over a month but know that I will have to continue treating my home for another year since they can live that long w/o a meal. Bed bugs are the devil but thank goodness for products that work!!!!

Appeared to be returned !!!
Some people who buy bed bug related stuff do it for preventative reasons and don't actually have bed bugs. I wanted a box spring encasement and bed bug interceptors just to play it safe. As usual, I checked out the 1 star reviews and read very disturbing reports that people ordered each of these products and they actually came with live bed bugs (!!!) - they had apparently been purchased by people who had an infestation yet took advantage of the return policy. This made me really nervous. So when these two items arrived, I took them far away from my building and opened and inspected them. The encasement was new. The packaging wasn't sealed and the zipper was slightly unzipped, but that was fine. I threw it in the laundry and then at max in the drier just to be sure. But the interceptors had a broken safety seal that clearly showed the box had been opened. That was enough for me. I chucked the whole box in a trashcan in the park and returned to my building. Amazon sellers, you should not accept returns on bed bug related items because the returns could very likely contain real live bed bugs and you are putting people at serious risk of an infestation. This is common sense. It's crazy that I even have to say this. Hopefully Amazon will listen to my complain and stop allowing this.
