Non-ending ruined it
I'm so sorry to say this, but this novella was a HUGE disappointment for me! :( I was really excited to read this story through Jackson's POV. Surprisingly, I didn't find it that interesting in a lot of places, and just when it started getting good, BAM, it was over. VERY abruptly. I'm used to my novellas having a beginning, middle, and end, and this one had NO end. It just stopped suddenly. I actually had to go back and check to make sure something didn't happen to my copy because I couldn't believe it would just stop where it did.All of the parts with Kelsey that I wanted to read from Jackson's POV didn't even happen! He is barely with her before it ends. I guess I just didn't expect this story to be like it was. From my impression I thought it would be about both before they met and then their time together. I knew it wouldn't go into every experience (obviously because it was a novella), but I thought it would touch on some of their key moments together before the end. To my disappointment, it doesn't. They actually only make it through the drugging scene at the club and when he takes her back to the hotel. My BIG question of why did he actually leave her hotel room that night (I've wondered this since I read Faking It)when she basically told him that if she woke up alone she would think something horrible had happened to her and to please, please not leave her, was never answered. It stopped right before that! Ugh. So now I guess I will never know. He left her that night and she woke up alone and freaked out, thinking the worst, just like she told him she would.Anyway, so this one just wasn't what I was hoping for. A disappointment in the end (or non-ending I should say). I still LOVE Cora Carmack though and will read anything she puts out. I can't wait for her next series!

I loved this little gem, but sad to see the series is over.
*Please do not read my review if you have yet to read FINDING IT. It very well may contain some spoilers!*We all met Hunt in FINDING IT while he was sent to watch over Kelsey. But now we get to know him before that. Well, slightly before that. As he is following Kelsey around overseas, we get to know him a little better than we did at first. The pains of trying to make it drink-free for a year, the pains of losing close friends, and the pains of watching over a spoiled little rich girl whose vaca is banked by daddy. But what he didn’t expect was to start having feelings for said girl. Little by little, bar by bar, he is learning that there is more to Kelsey than meets the eye. And soon he cannot hold back his feelings any more.Oh how I adore Carmack for bringing Hunt into our lives. I love him so very much and was so happy to dive into his mind and see what moved him. I was very happy with this quick read and who Hunt is. One slight problem I had was he didn’t seem as tormented about taking that drink from Kelsey as I would have wanted him to be to make it more believable. But I still loved that Carmack went back and let us in on him from the start so we can know him a little more.Pick up this fantastic quick read today! You will be glad you did. But please read FINDING IT FIRST.

Nice addition to the series
I loved being able to get into Jackson's head in Seeking Her. There was actually very little overlap with Finding It, which I appreciated. This novella showed Jackson's thoughts and feelings starting with the first moments of his new job watching Kelsey. Although it sounds like it might be creepy, it was quite fascinating seeing her actions from his perspective and watching his opinion of her change. Seeing Kelsey through his eyes helped me understand her better as well. Also highlighted in this story were Jackson's struggles with memories from his military service and alcoholism. I admired his strength in confronting his demons, and I loved how he truly wanted to help Kelsey. Where Cormack ended the story was perfect, but I would be lying if I said I didn't want more Jackson and Kelsey. I am definitely a fan of this couple, and I thought this was a nice addition to their love story.

A delicious prequel
Before Kelsey’s story, Finding It, began in Budapest, there was Kiev, Bucharest, and Belgrade. The routine was the same: partying, guys, repeat. And Jackson Hunt was there to witness it all.In Seeking Her, we see the vibrant, beautiful, magnetic, yet troubled Kelsey through Hunt’s eyes, while learning more about the enigmatic Afghanistan veteran we fell in love with along with Kelsey in Finding It. The problems in Hunt’s past are very similar to Kelsey’s, and in addition to being attracted to her, he is driven to help her overcome them, as his Marine Corps buddies once did for him.As with all of Carmack’s books in the Losing It series, the writing is bright and cliché-free, the characters are tangibly real, and the love stories sizzling and addictive. Be careful when you start this book (or any of her others), though: you won’t be able to put it down once you dive in!Being a military veteran myself, I found Carmack’s portrayal of a medically discharged, combat-tested Marine be refreshingly realistic. Hunt’s traumatic experiences in Afghanistan weren’t the focus of his story, rather a driving factor in his present problems of alcoholism and finding a purpose after war.I was so sad when I reached the end of the novella. Perhaps someday Carmack will indulge her fans by turning it into a full-length book and giving us even more of Kelsey and Hunt. ☺ Until then, I’ll be eagerly awaiting the first novel in Carmack’s new adult Texas college football series, ALL LINED UP, this spring.

I love Jackson!
Seeking Her is a short novella in Cora Carmack’s Losing It series and it’s all about Jackson Hunt, the male character from Cora’s book Finding It. If you’ve read Finding It you will already know the story, if you’ve not read it then I would recommend that you do, preferably before reading this. It’s not strictly necessary though as this is basically a retelling of the start of Kelsey and Jackson’s story from his POV.Jackson has been hired by Kelsey’s father to keep tabs on her while she travels around Europe. He is expecting a high maintenance prom queen who will be visiting mainly tourist attractions but what he gets is a slightly different story.I pre-ordered this after reading Losing It, Faking It and Finding It in quick succession. Losing It introduces you to all of the main characters in the full length novels and this novella along with Keeping Her supplement the full length novels. Faking it was written with a dual POV but the first and third in the series were written from only one POV, their corresponding novellas are from the opposite POV.I already knew I liked Jackson but I probably like him even more now. His POV was completely unseen before so it’s good to get inside his head. He’s a war veteran and is still fighting the after effects of the war in his head which makes his character quite dark and although Kelsey acts as a light in his life his darkness reflects a secret darkness in hers. He’s quick to make an assumption about her but also quick to admit that he’s wrong.I would have liked more of Jackson’s version of events as this novella only tells a very small part of their story together, but it’s only intended as a quick, fun read and it ticks those boxes.Erin x

Need More
Ohhh Jackson’s point of view, I literally couldn’t wait for this novella and devoured it in one sitting. Although I loved Jackson’s narrative I have to say I was equally delighted and disappointed by Seeking Her. Why you ask? It’s because it wasn’t nearly long enough, not even close. I think I’ve been spoiled by having entire books from the alternate perspective like, Be With Me by J Lynn and Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire. I love Jackson so much this is what I desperately craved from Seeking Her.While we did gain insight and understanding to Jackson’s actions from this novella, it didn’t show his side for pivotal scenes from Finding It. I NEED THAT. The time frame in Seeking Her is before he start of Finding It where Kelsey has yet to meet Jackson *pouts* I had to go back and re-read Finding It after finishing Seeking Her and still couldn’t get enough of Jackson. So please, please can we have the pivotal scenes in Finding It from his point of view *begs*

Fluff
This novella is Finding it from Hunt 's POV from leaving America up until he takes her to his hotel room after her drink has been notified. We see the way he notices Kelsey's struggle, as he see 's that she is in the same destructive circle that he was once in.Hunt struggles with his growing feelings for her, but sees a kindred spirit, knowing that he can help if she lets him, he just hopes she doesn't find out his secret.I would have preferred however if this novella went into the time that Hunt continued to travel after Kelsey had left him behind until she contacts him again

Not worth it!
I don't know why the author bothered with this one, it stops abruptly mid-way leaving the reader in limbo. I do not recommend this book.

Endet mittendrin...
