I'm on well water and, if it's a dry season, sand and grit can sometimes travel through the garden hose and plug up the sprinkler. (Water inside is filtered.) The sediment filter traps the sand so I don't have to keep unhooking the sprinkler, cleaning the filter, reattaching the sprinkler only to have to do it again in 45 minutes. After watering is done, I clean out the sediment filter and learned that the rubber gasket in the cup needs to be fully seated into the depression it fits into - otherwise the filter leaks. I would buy this sediment filter again.

Our well pump was recently replaced and caused a lot of seditment in our water. These really helped with keeping the debris from the recently disturbed well out of our washing maching and pressure washer.

I'm using this filter in line with my pressure washer to ensure no grains of sand from my well make it to the pump. It fits the hose bibs well, filters well and doesn't leak. Others have complained about the sediment bowl cracking. I've only had mine for about 2 months and, so far, its fine. I don't over tighten it (light hand tighten until I can feel the o-ring compressing a bit). I do, however, use a light coating of a silicone paste lubricant on the threads and o-ring to not only help seal the unit but also make assembly/disassembly easy. I've seen reports of people trying to use this fitting for washing machines, etc.. I would not recommend this filter for any use inside the home. Outdoors only.

After hooking this up to my hose, I have some reservations but I'm optimistic. The threading for the inlet is off so I couldn't get a good fit until I added a different adapter for my hose end. The inner gasket is slightly smaller than it should be so the filter cup took some fiddling to get a drip free hold. The fitting itself is very nice however. Feels like a good quality metal, nice and dense and I saw no blemishes or warping. I really like how this filter looks, the size and I'm hopeful it will last. I live in the NW so we'll see how it handles the winter.

This water filter is well-made, but did not come with any instructions. The body of the filter appears to be a polycarbonate, which is a tough, impact-resistant plastic, designed to last. The connecting-fittings are brass. The fact that the body & fittings are different materials means that the connecting-threads cannot be "tapered," as in standard iron-pipe fittings. The threads are "straight-threads." That means it is advisable to use the supplied "thread-tape" on all male-threads, 3-full wraps. Remove both fittings from the filter, apply the thread-tape, and re-insert the fittings into the body of the filter. There is a rubber-gasket at the base of each brass-fitting that must seat firmly with the plastic body, to ensure leak-free operation. The filter comes with a selection of regular washers, screened-washers, the thread-tape mentioned, plus two spare filter screens. There is no replacement gasket for the main filter body. I'm not sure where one would find that replacement gasket if it ever needed replacing. I installed two of these filters on our commercial washing-machine, to replace the "in-line" filters provided by the washing-machine manufacturer. However, these filters are fairly large, so they will NOT fit behind a regular washing-machine. They need to have space adjacent to the machine, not directly behind the machine. They seem to work as designed, and fit our needs. Since they involve plastic, I will keep an eye on their performance to ensure that the fittings are tight and not leaking.

Used this for about 10 hours before it sprung a leak in the plastic on top. Looks like an air bubble in the mold that gave way with just town water pressure.

It attached easily to my water spigot and worked well. The screen filter kept impediments out of my pool. I cut up a bigger water filter and inserted it into the water holder and it did an even better job of filtering out iron (red particulate) from my water that was going into my swimming pool. For $13 bucks there’s no better hose water filter housing - I just wish they made fiber filters for use in the housing rather than me having to cut up other fiber filters snd customizing them to fit into the housing. No big deal as 1 large fiber filter was cut up to 8 pieces and that will last me a few years. I definitely recommend this filter set up. Good performance at a great price.

A must to use pre timer and drip lines.

My well has enough sediment to plug cold water inlet screen washing machine. Hot of course protected by coming off of top of hot water tank with cold inlet supply entering through dip tube to bottom of hot water tank so sediment stays at bottom of hot water tank. My washer and dryer in closet with bifold doors and with shelf over water supply inlets so got tired of taking doors and shelf off to pull washing machine to access screen in water solenoid valve. Previously had to replace thermistor switch and water solenoid valve because cold was plugged up and solenoid valve was banging on and off trying to maintain warm water to washing machine.

The lower part of the screen does not seal effectively to the bottom of the clear screw off cup. This is a problem because particles do get by.The screen should be longer or have a gasket to resolve the issue.I made a gasket and now it works fine.

Worth the money

Works very good for my application. Would recommend to anyone looking to keep debris out of a small pump or pressure washer.
