Perfect for my garden in Spain but also for a garden in the UK that you don't want to spend time watering.

having retired in the middle east I now have time to concentrate on a garden. Book contains excellent information on types of soil and appropriate plants for the area. Only point for me as a very novice gardener would be to have more photos of plants with their common/Latin names. Many plant souqs have no idea of plant names so to show and know by sight is a must.

This book gives an excellent overview of basic gardening practices, tools, resources for soil amendments, Middle Eastern climate zones, and even has an encyclopedia section for the scientific names and brief descriptions of dozens of recommended plants (trees and shrubs). It is easily accessible to any novice or intermediate-level gardener. It's useful to me, even while I reside in central Florida, which has similar sandy soil and weather conditions as certain areas of the Middle East. Keep in mind, it was originally published in 1986, so some scientific names may have changed. It is still a relevant book. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in this topic!
